Which version do I need?

Featured Replies

I apologize in advance for using the general form, but I do not want to double post in the respective forums.

It has been many years since I used what I think was the initial version of FS2Crew and I'm interested in bringing it back into my full 737-800 simpit.

I have three questions before I purchase:

1.  My cockpit running Prosim737 and the Prosim Jetstream model.  What version of FS2Crew would I need for voice command?

2.  I also own the PMDG 737NGX.  Can I buy the PMDG NGX version and use it with my setup in question 1 even though I am not using the NGX in my cockpit?

3.  Can I setup the checklists so that the FO reads everything and I, as the CAPT have to flip the switches?  I seem to remember that back in the day the FO also did some switching ont he software panels but all my panels involve hardware.

Thanks and I look forward to getting the appropriate package.

Hi Warren,

1. ProSim / Home Cockpits....   FS2Crew won't integrate well with that because we can't pull a lot of "data" out of their software.

2. NGX works perfectly, but again, but only if you're running the PMDG NGX out of the box.  How well FS2Crew NGX would work with your NGX-Prosim merge is hard to say as I've never tried it.

You'd be in test pilot territory.  But it might work okay so long as Pro Sim is pulling everything from the NGX.

3. Not possible.  We do it the way it's done in the real-world regarding checklists.  A lot of the checklists are read entirely by the FO/PM because the items fall within his area of responsibility.

Thanks for taking the time to answer, Brian.

My setup uses the Prosim Jetstream model which is basically the default 737 with some tweaks.  I would think the FS2Crew for the default 737 might work with that.  Which package is that (I'm getting confused with all the packages available through your site and all the Vendors)?

I don't mind being a "test pilot" as long as I know from the start  , and from what I've been reading, the only changes to my system besides installation would be some lines in the aircraft config (is that correct?) so no real impact to my setup.

One last thing and I probably should have been clearer in my first post...  Is it possible to use the PMDG NGX version with the FSX Default 737 by turning unsupported functions off?

Thanks again.

Outstanding Brian.

I just shot him a message.  Don't recognize his youtube name, but mine doesn't match my FS logins either.  He's subscribed to all my friends and fellow builders though.  Hopefully, I can get some of my questions answered and get on to using the software.

Shame I can't get dual use out of the PMDG version.  I only fly my PMDG on my laptop when deployed though.  I'll get the cockpit up and running then look into the laptop with PMDG.

Thanks.

Well, I talked to Captain Anton and he says that it's all workable.  I went ahead and purchased the Default 737 version for FSX from Simmarket and now I'm headed to the "hangar" to try it out.  Thanks

Hope this is the thread I need to ask this question: All I want to know is what version of FS2Crew do I buy to work with my brand-new PDMG 737NGX? Not interested in any "emergency" or other fancy package, just the crew package that will work with the NGX. There's the Emergency NGX, the RAAS Professional, the NGX Captain's Set, the NGX Special Bundle Pack, the Ground School...

I just want to fly with a FO and some help. So which product do I buy? Probably the better question is whether to buy the Captain's Set or the Special Bundle.

The "NGX Special Bundle Pack" is what you want:

The "Captain's Set" is the same thing but it also includes a 737 Ground School, but it doesn't sound like you need the Ground School.

Cheers,

Thanks for saving me a few euros...er...dollars! "Special Bundle Pack" it is.
