Something to experiment with - I know that the FSXAssist help warns against using RealTime but after further experimentation I found that FSX seems to thrive on it.  In my test, switching between Above Normal and RealTime gave me an extra 20 FPS.  Seems that FSX is sucking everything that the OS (Windows 8 in my case) can give it.

I was thinking about the old days when we had to do a reboot to load MSFS (on DOS).  In those days there was no real multitasking support in the OS as it was pre-windows.

Anyway give RealTime mode for FSX a try and you may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm sure this is something obvious, but what do you mean by real time mode?

Hi Griphos - to set FSX priority to RealTime first uncheck Safe Settings.  RealTime will then be an option in the FSX Priority settings.  Then set your Addon Priority to Normal or Above Normal.

RealTime seems to work best with Unlimited FPS (set to 0).

Here is some extra info on priorities.

It has been reported that RealTime mode was not being set correctly for some users.  Please download the latest update if you are having that issue.

Here are a few more updates on using ReaTime Priority for FSX.  One is that a user reported some stuttering issues when using it but I am unsure of the exact configuration.

The second is that I think that using HyperThreading may be a factor to using RealTime.  It is enabled on my system and I am seeing about a 20 FPS increase (in the 90's Unlimited) at cruise over ORBX scenery.

Finally, I noticed that FSX no longer crashes upon exit.  This was quite prevalent with an ABOVE NORMAL FSX priority.  Also, microstutters have disappeared on my system.

Anyway as the saying goes - your mileage may vary.

Cheers
