FSX Unexpectly Shuts Down

Featured Replies

I have been having this issue lately. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling without any luck. This happens when I am using the menu bar. I have UIAutomation.dll in the fsx root directory. Windows "Event Viewer" does not have any errors. I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Any help will be much appreciate.

Have you tried it without the dll I had to remove it now it works fine also you have to remove it from other folders but do a search should come really easy.

I have UIAutomation.dll in the fsx root directory

As explained many times on this forum already, the UIautomationcore.dll is not a magic "fix" for menu crashes. Obviously it's not working, so remove it.

The issue is 99% most likely because of a version of ENB series installed. You must remove it, including the d3d9.dll, and the .ini file.

Or, simply don't access the menu during flight.

You probably have to remove the UIAutomation.dll and UIAutomationCore.dll. Make sure that it is removed from your FSX root directory and also make sure it is removed from your C:/Windows/System32 folder. Once its all gone, run FSX.exe again and test it by doing a long flight (KMDW-KTPA e.g.)

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks Gareth            or C:/Windows/System64 folder           as we do not know your operating system.

Do not remove it from your system folder.  The uiautomationcore.dll is required by your Windows operating system.  There should be a version in your system32 folder and one in the wow64 folder.  The uiautomationcore.dll is part of Microsoft.net framework software packages.  You remove it and you will definitely have problems.  Only remove the dll located in the main FSX folder.

This happens when I am using the menu bar.

This is usually due to a corrupted dll.xml.  Open the dll.xml in notepad and you can usually see immediately if there is corruption.

Best regards,

Jim

Windows "Event Viewer" does not have any errors.

You should download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html to see if there was a crash involved.  If there is a crash report, then copy and paste the results here for analysis.

For the Event Viewer, make sure you are looking under Custom Views>Administrative Events.  This shows all of the issues with your computer from the time you turned it on.

Best regards,

Jim
