HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi,

After installing, and then removing SweetFX GUI from FS9, I am getting the following error message when booting up FS9:

"Error while unpacking program, code LP6. Please error message to author."

The following appears to be causing the crash in the event viewer:

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\ole32.dll

After running a HotFix from Microsoft, I am not getting the ole32.dll error anymore, but I still get the LP6 error message.

I don't know if SweetFX is to blame, but it happened after I installed and removed it (have tried the backup .exe I created before installing it, but it just crashes straight away without the error message). Help is MUCH appreciated.

Sorry for the impatience, but help would be really, really appreciated

Just restore Windows to the most recent Restore Point

I don't have any restore points

Is there another way to restore from a previous image? Or to roll back updates to a specific date when things did work? It doesn't make sense though because I made NO changes whatsoever (apart from SweetFX uninstall) between it working and not working.

Again, help is most appreciated

Make sure none of the remnants of SweetFX was left in the Main FS9 folder.  If it is happening during startup of FS9, then there is something in the main FS9 folder or in the FS9.cfg triggering the error.  Try to rename your FS9.cfg, restart FS9 and see if this fixes the problem.  If not, rename the old fs9 config back to what you had before.  There should not be a d3d9.dll in the main FS9 folder or any .ini.

Best regards,

Jim

SOLVED!!!

Jim you are absolutely amazing. That was the DLL causing all the errors. I did then have still games not responding, but after adjusting compatibility settings it works a dream.

Thank you to both of you, but particularly Jim for solving the issue!

Glad it worked and thanks for reporting back on how you fixed the problem.  Hopefully it will help others in the future.

Best regards,

Jim
