Save/Load weather in ASE or REX, which is correct mode?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I fly most of my flights (long and medium haul) in more steps, saving FSX situations (generally with PMDG MD11 and NGX).

My meteo engine is ASE, and at the beginning of the flight I save either the weather, the .wx file.

When I want to reload the flight, I start FSX, load my saved flight and also load saved .wx file in ASE, but I realized that weather is not the same WHEN I saved the flight.

Which is your coerrect modus operandi in this situation?

I'd like to fly all my route using the day1 saved weather, may I not start ASE or do something else?

Many thanks in advance.

Riccardo

Look in the help section for historical weather - just pick your location, date and time.

Thanks Vic, so you save a flight in mid air which position do you fill?

I think that AS could save the weather as is. Suppose I fly may 1st, save flight and weather (.wx file) and reload today flight and weather, the weather is not the same, is different.

So if I well understood I must reload flight and in ASE put may 1st as historical weather?

Load ASE, load weather, current or historical. Then save weather from ASE interface, ASE will name the save file something like: 2013-03-07 21Z.wx (these files are stored in application data).

Go and fly your flight.  Next time you want to repeat flight start ASE then click on the "Open Weather" tab, Select load weather file that you used first time and that gives you the weather you used before. If you load WX influenced textures from ASE you will need to use the loaded weather to generate the same weather influenced textures on your first flight.

You might find it more convenient to switch off automatic downloading as it saves a current weather download when you are going to use weather that you have already saved.
