Bennyboy stated he has ordered a system with this processor that has already been overclocked to 4.8GHz and he's hoping to hit higher.  I think your source of information is inaccurate, to say the least.

If bennyboy has already his PC at home with 4,8 great!! He said he ordered, it doesn't mean he will get it, any PC builder say "OC to 4,5 to 4,8 for example because no one can predict what would be the result of the OC because no processor it is identical with other and also between the cores, and a 4 core processor is much easier to OC than a 6 cores and the final value of the OC will be the lower value from all cores, that's why it's more dificult to achieve higher than 4,5 in a six core processor, you can see most of the users in forum (can be exceptions) that have OC like 4,7 to 5,0 use I7 2600K, most that use 3770k achieve from 4,5 to 4,8 and from 3970X I will expect in MY opinion 4,3 to 4,6 as a good OC with out pushing the volts. Again my appreciation, bennyboy will confirm us

If you pay a builder to overclock a system for you, they are contractually obligated to deliver upon their promises, otherwise you would be eligible for a refund or litigation to obtain it.

I agree, that's why I found estrange that bennyboy is so sure about to get precisely that value, check by yourself I didn't find any builder on the web that offer a fixed value over 4,5

You don't know where he ordered it from so how can you rule out the possibility that someone out there is willing to charge to perform this service?

Gents, I'm assured by the co supplying it that it will be o/c'd to 4.8 out of the box. It will go higher but they tell me that's my call. This chip has been clocked and stable up to 5.1 if you look on the overclockers site. Also taking into account the results of Word Not Allowed's test with the Titan on his blog then this rig should pack a punch.

It might seem like overkill but I've been on FS9 since forever and a day and my last purchase was a Dell desktop that cost similar amounts to this one back then but obviously now has less processing power than my iPhone. I can run FS9 like butter and I knew unless I spent some serious cash I wouldn't be able to enjoy upgrading to FSX but the time has come.

This is a (very pricey) treat but if I get 9 years out of it like my last one I'll be very happy!

Sounds beautiful!!!! dont forget to run FSXMark11 test before installing any add-on, you can be the first to post that results with a 3970X on the forum

I will, it's in build now and should be here soon. I'd rather not think of the price too much, but let's just say I could have bought a fairly decent used car - or a fair chunk of a private pilots licence for the cost of this little puppy!

jajajajaja know what you mean, I also just bought a PC for FSX and nothing more, and while I was deciding what to nuy your specs where my first options but I doubted about the price, the OC and how much cost-benefit I will get with that monster for FSX, the price was more or less 4500 to 5000 usd so I decided not to expend that much and buy some other accesories, so I bought this:

1 x Corsair Obsidian Series 650D (CC650DW-1) Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Case

1 x ASUS VE278Q Black 27" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers

1 x ASUS P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

1 x ASUS GTX680-DC2-4GD5 GeForce GTX 680 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

1x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

1x Asus 24xDVD-RW Serial ATA Internal OEM Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black)

1x OCZ Technology 128GB Vertex 4 Series SATA 6.0 GB/s 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive (SSD)

1x OCZ Technology 256GB Vertex 4 Series SATA 6.0 GB/s 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive (SSD)

1x Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz expect to OC to 4,8

1x Corsair Vengeance M65 Performance FPS Gaming Mouse, Gunmetal Black (CH-9000022-NA)

1xCorsair Professional Series  AX 850 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold (AX850)

1x Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H100i

1x Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 DRAM 2400MHz PC3 19200 C10 Desktop Memory Kit CMD16GX3M2A2400C10

1x 2 of Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition Twin Pack Fan (CO-9050008-WW)

1x Corsair Air Series AF120 Performance Edition Twin Pack Fan (CO-9050004-WW)

all that was about 3000 usd, I added some extra fans to ensure good cooling to better OC, and the accesories I bought:

Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals

TrackIr 5 Premium Head Tracking for Gaming

Hotas warthog thrustmaster (I love this baby)

plus 250 usd on add-ons to improve traffic, enviroment sound, and others (UTC2012, GEX , etc)

lets see how this setup behaves

still have things to buy:

7,1 sound system

PMDG aircrafts

ORBX, LatinVFR, flytampa escenaries and airports

REX escentials + overdrive

Accufeel

majestic dash 8 Q400

flght 1 DC9 coolsky

and with that I am very happy and I think I got closer to your monster price!!

Very nice! You've spent money on the right stuff. I just went nuts and ticked every box! It'll be interesting to see how much more bang per buck I get (if any!) from my rig over yours. Not long to wait now...

Nice specs! That 2400 Mhz RAM will certainly allow for a higher stable overclock at any rate.

I hope to get at least 4,8, 5 would be nice :)
