Anyone having sound issues running Squakbox?

Featured Replies

I feel comfortable enough to start flying online but I am having issues with my sound cutting out (as in no engine sounds etc) when trying to use Squakbox.  I cant be 100% sure that its being caused by Squakbox but I have not had this issue while learning the plane in offline conditions.  I've tried connecting a couple different ways from ouside of FSX as well as from the Squakbox menu from the "Alt" toolbar.  In some instances I can connect to Vatsim with sound but have never gotten through pushback/taxi before I loose it again.

Has anyone had success connecting to Vatsim while running Squakbox?

Got any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks in advance

I don't know about any problems with SB specifically, however, some users (myself included) have experienced the sound cutting out 10-15 minutes in to a flight unrelated to SB use.  Culprits that have been blamed are Windows 8, 5.1 vs. 7.1 sound, FSX Voice sounds, FSX flight planner and not running FSX as an administrator.  For me, not use the FSX flight planner solved my issues...it seems to have worked well for many others, but not everyone gets the same mileage from each solution.

Thanks for that bit of advice, could be the flight planner you mention because I was not using it while learning the aircraft and have been since trying to fly online;importing my plan via Flight Sim Commander.  Will test and report back. I voted you up for taking the time to reply whether it works or not; thanks again.
