Airplane Shuts Down Shortly After Loading

Featured Replies

yet another silly question. I'm sure this has been answered a million times:I load an airplane, and shortly after I start the engines, everything shuts down......what gives?ricardo

Sounds like the battery is going dead. Turn on the generators or alternators. Also may be the fuel pump. Check the procedures of that aircraft.Joe W.

C'mon guys...This problem depends on what aircraft your flying. If your flying a prop airplane at higher altitudes then most likely you have to lean the mixture a bit to compensate foe the higher elevation. Allot of factors come into play at higher elevations and presser altitude is a key thing to remember. Depending on the presser 5,000 feet can feel like 8,000ft on a plane. Now if this is a jet and/or turboprop your talking about, that's another issue altogether...

Read the post.An engine ( Either in FS9 or real life) Needs 3 things to start, Air, fuel, and a spark. Doesn't matter if it Piston or jet....Same thing.Joe w.

Ricardo, do you mean the engines shut down within a minute or so after they start?I noticed this too on a few add-on aircraft. The FSDS A-26 and on some of the CFS2 aircraft I put into the game.I don't know why this happens either, I just put up with it. I think it's another bug, or some other incompatibility issue.Rick

Piston engines don't need electrical power to run. Most engines run with air(oxygen) and fuel. It has to be mixed in the right percentage to get an exothermic reaction which drives the engine. Piston engines need sparks to get the stuff burning. Jet-engines only need ignition on startup, because they work differently. A jet-engine is driven by a permanent fire (flames) inside the combustion chambers. If you need more power just make the flame bigger, if you need less make it smaller. Flame speed is about 25 m/s so the airflow inside the combustion chambers must be below that or else the flame will be "blown" out.cheers,Claudio

In the Aircraft.cfg check under the (GeneralEngineData) section. If there is this line:min_throttle_limit = 0.0change the value of 0.0 to something like 0.1 or 0.3 (anything in that range).Hope this helps,Greg

I began to have this problem a few weeks ago. (Engines would shut down after a minute or two and then sometimes right away, and I couldn't get them to start). It happened after I had installed the new Pilatus PC12 from AFG. Man, I could not figure out what was going on. Guess what it was....... For some reason when the Pilatus was installed it set the fuel selector to the off position. Not just the Pilatus, it did it to all my aircraft. Once I turned the fuel back on I was good to go. Don't know if this helps but its worth a look. B Bjorkman CFII
