My Traffic X and World of AI will work together?

Featured Replies

Do not see any reason why they wouldn't work together.  Might have some duplications and issues with flight plans though.  Maybe the same airliner trying to get into the same gate? Duplicate flights trying to take off or land?  Interesting possibilities.  If you have both programs, it would be educational for us all here to see if they do work together.  If not, you can disable or remove one or the other.

Best regards,

Jim

My Traffic already renames the default traffic files in your FS9/Scenery/World/Scenery folder by placing a "passive" extension on it so you should be good to go by simply installing WOAI.

I am not familiar with My Traffic X but I do have the classic Ultimate Traffic 2007 which provides most of my AI. I have recently started using WOAI to add airlines not included in UT or better plans, like UT is weak on cargo flights.

Now UT allows you to exclude airlines from its compile placed in a traffic.bgl compile so if My Traffic X has that feature that would take care of duplication.

WOAI files are uniquely named for the specific airline you compile such as:

Traffic_000_WoA_KLM Cityhopper_Wi12.bgl

where WoA stands for World of AI, the airline is KLM Cityhopper, Wi12 stands for Winter 2012.

By convention traffic files are stored in:

"(your path)\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\World\scenery"

To make any file traffic file ineffective just change the .bgl extension to .bgh so you can put it back if you wish.

http://www.world-of-ai.com/allpackages.php

is the link to the all package list which is in three sections. There are the installers, then passenger airlines, followed by cargo airlines. Clicking at the head of each column will allow a sort by the data in each column so you would click on Name to alphabetize on the name of the airline.

The WOAI site was going to shut down for lack of activity but a last minute resurgence in contributions of schedules and ai models to allow packaging allowed a change of  heart by that web master.

The WOAI installer is easy to use compared with others since they have control of the packaging and the downloads are in a preconfigured zip file ready for the installation app to use.

Some excellent information Ron!  Thanks!

Best regards,

Jim

World of AI is great! I added some airlines that My Traffic does not have and added a US Air to see how that would work. Checked out KBOS and now have Virgin America and the latest US Air acft. The US Air are parked in the correct spots but also at other gates. I will play around with My Traffic editor to see if I can fix that. So far so good!

If there are more specific airline AI than available designated parking, they can spill over to other available spots that fit the aircraft physical criteria (dimensions mostly radius).

The airlines for UT 2007 are at that stage including models furnished. To update you would exclude that airline from the compile and use WOAI packages which include the models and schedules.

Other than a couple of cargo packages put together by individuals to replace the weak UT cargo packages at the time, I installed WOAI packages starting recently.

UT installs AFCAD files for most of its scheduled airports. If you use add-on airport scenery you need to disable those conflicting afcad files named in this format F1UT_KPHX.bgl by changing the extension to .bgh. They are located in Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery.

UT2007 is a little complex to use but that comes with flexability. You can get timetables for each airline in .pdf format and an airport traffic board schedule. This is handy for what to expect. The output traffic file name is fixed at traffic.bgl. It also has an option to include GA (general aviation smaller aircraft non-scheduled) at all airports.
