May 10, 201313 yr I recenlty downloaded the X-Plane demo after being an avid FSX user for many years now. It is pretty good and the graphics are great. The flight model was excellent as well. My major thing I've seen about it is that the landmarks and cities, etc are not true to life as it is (kinda) in FSX. Are there addons you can get that will make it so that say for instance, you fly to San Francisco, CA you are gonna see the Golden Gate Bridge in the correct location with semi accurate landmarks? This is the only thing keeping me from joining the Xplane bandwagon. I know Google.com but I figured I'd ask on here for more informed answers. Thanks and happy flying!
May 11, 201313 yr Commercial Member I thought that there was some freeware that included landmarks for a large number of cities, but I cannot remember what that freeware is. Does anyone else on the forum know what I am talking about? REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations

May 12, 201313 yr This is the only thing keeping me from joining the Xplane bandwagon. This seems like the primary deficit in XPlane and I'm not sure why LR and/or a 3rd party team hasn't addressed this directly already. I'm guessing if this one, pretty big but rote, projectw ould very much be the game changer to inspire many new converts to XPlane, which will in turn serve to bring on the other 3rd party devs that on the fence currently. As a single area to resolve I'm thinking this one's it. Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. Aircraft used in MSFS 2024: Fenix A320, Aerosoft CRJ, FBW, WT 787X, I-Fly 737 MAX 8, Citation Longitude.
May 13, 201313 yr If you are specifically looking for landmarks I would recommend Ted Davis' X-Plane Scenery Page http://www.theosdavis.com/xpfiles/scenery/scenery.html This is what I used when I first got into X-Plane. The models are good enough to establish where you are, but you will probably want to replace them if you find better scenery on x-plane.org I also strongly agree with Noel, basic landmarks should really be Laminar Research's job to provide.
May 13, 201313 yr http://www.xpscenery.net/index.html Really nifty website to look up payware and freeware scenery. Not 100% sure how up-to-date it is but it's supposed to be updated frequently and does have quite a library of scenery already.
