May 30, 201313 yr For my setup, I have an Intel SSD for OS and another SSD for FSX. My perferred brands are Intel and Kingston. FSX do access C:\ drive when running, so having an SSD would also help in loading during game play as well. Thanks
May 30, 201313 yr Looking at your hardware specs, your GPU might be a bottleneck especially at 4.7 Ghz. I would consider upgrading to at least a 660TI and 8gb of fast RAM with tight timings.Keep in mind that you'll probably have to adjust your overclock settings after installing the RAM. As for the SSD. I highly recommend the Samsung 840. An SSD will not improve your FPS though. I have 2 256 gb 840 pro SSD's installed with the OS on 1 and FSX on the other. Moving FSX to its own dedicated SSD in its own folder, not the default X86/program/files one has resulted in the most stable, trouble-free platform I've ever experienced. PC boots up to windows in less than 20 seconds. FSX and any 3rd party payware loads up much faster than before. I employed Word Not Allowed's tweaks and now suffer no more CTD's and freezes. There are a myriad of config file tweaks and other patches that will aid in FSX performance that don't cost anything. Regards
