Blurry MFD's

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just purchased the TBM850 HD Series from Carenado for FSX and while I am happy with it overall, I have one problem - the MFDs are fairly blurry unless I click on them to zoom in. Anyone else encounter this and if so, is there a fix?

Use the '+' key on the keyboard to zoom in, if you want to see the VC gauge detail.

If you want a cleaned up MFD/PFD that looks a bit better, send me a PM with your email address.. ^_^

Just tried to follow the instructions - couldn't figure it out. Got a simpler method for doing this fix?

Hi Matthew,

do you have put any custom tweaks or changes in the FSX.cfg file? It looks like the resolution of these Glass Panels are drawn way too small.

Did you enable all options in the FSX-menue for the cockpit?

Maybe you can try to run FSX with a fresh FSX.cfg, which means paste it out of the folder and let FSX rebuilt a new one in order to see if the problem still occurs. Keep your original FSX.cfg in a save place so that you could go back any time. Let´s see what happens!

Matthew,  What part has you stumped?

.. and more importantly, did you check the FSX settings that I referred to?

What FSX settings are you referring to? I see nothing about it in your e-mail to me. Also, I am having trouble finding files such as TBM850_G1000.cab and also the .spb files.

Quoting from my PM to you:

"I'll send you my mods, but if you cannot get the VC to look clear, you may have another problem..

Do you have the settings in FSX set high enough?

"Global texture resolution" to max and "High resolution virtual cockpit" checked.."

If you cannot locate the files, you may have "hide known file extensions" set in Windows, suggest

you uncheck that setting.

I have all my FSX settings set properly, as you can see in my screenshot.

Can you post a screenshot with full daylight?

Believe me, the rest of my VC is identical to yours. I cannot find the "TBM850_G1000.cab" file in my "Gauges" folder in FSX. I have checked the option to show all hidden files. I have the following files in the Gauges folder of FSX relating to the TBM850:

CarSound_TBM850.dll (Application extension)

CARTBM850_G1000.dll (Application extension)

GAUGETBM850 (WinRAR archive)

TBM850_Cabin_alt.gau (GAU file)

TBM850_G1000 (WinRAR archive)

TBM850_GAUGE (WinRAR archive)

TBM850CAR (WinRAR archive)

As I suspected, you have "hide known files extensions" set...

TBM850_G1000 (WinRAR archive)  is actually the file you are looking for.

Use the Windows Help function to get to the settings, and uncheck this option.

or..

To show file name extensions in Windows Explorer, follow these steps:

For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008
  1. Start Windows Explorer, you can do this by opening up any folder.
  2. Click Organize.
  3. Click Folder and search options.
  4. Click the View tab.
  5. Scroll down until you notice Hide extensions for known file types, un-check this line by clicking the check box.
Note To hide file name extensions, check this line.
  6. Click OK
For Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003
  1. Start Windows Explorer, you can do this by opening up any folder.
  2. Click Tools, and then click Folder Options.
  3. Scroll down and then click Folder and search options.
  4. Click the View tab.
  5. Scroll down until you notice Hide extensions for known file types, un-check this line by clicking the check box.

Note To hide file name extensions, check this line.
  6. Click OK

Tried your fix for the blurriness and I can't see any difference at all. Not sure if I did it right.

This fix is not made to address any blurriness, but instead fixes a number of graphic errors on the Carenado G1000s

If the oil temperature and pressure values show up in green instead of white, you have the fix applied.

Just compare the popup to the VC gauge.

I'm still waiting to see a screenshot of your G1000 with proper daytime lighting, so I can see what you are seeing.. ^_^
