June 14, 201312 yr I very rarely fly in the south eastern states of the U.S., so I was discomnockerated when I found that most of a line across Georgia,Louisiana and part of Mississippi was flooded. This is definitely a water texture problem, as adjusting the water in Settings, alters the colour . Testing other areas in the U.S results in no problems, plus I don't have any add-ons for the affected area. Installed is UTUSA, FScene etc., everything works fine. Any help would be appreciated. June 14, 201312 yr Try rerunning the UT setup tool. If applicable, try tuning off FTX. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
June 14, 201312 yr Author Thanks for that Joe, I'll give that a try, will let you know result, may be Saturday Regards Grant
June 15, 201312 yr Author Hi Joe Just tried all combinations I could think of with scenery files, including your suggestion, but regretfully with no success. this looks maybe like a tile or texture problem, but I don't know where it would reside. plus I am no expert on such matters which doesn't help. Could be that not flying in this area, the problem has been there a long time, and have now only just discovered it. I have seen posts way in the past relating to similar problems but they seem lost in the Forum somewhere. Possibly the best solution would be to fly through these Southern States at night , or go somewhere else. !!! Many thanks for your attention to the problem, appreciated. Grant
June 15, 201312 yr 'Ow do, Blackpool - this could be a terrain mesh problem, if you have any terrain mesh for the USA try de-activating it in the FS scenery list and if that fixes it, go to add/remove programs and try repairing or re-installing the mesh program. June 15, 201312 yr Author A32xx, per chance are you over the Eastern border, thanks for your reply, have now tried the terrain mesh bit, reinstalled all pertaining Genesis mesh, but without success. Have no problem with Jacksonville FL area or Atlanta GA area, just the bit in between and stretching West to just inside Mississippi. Have tested other parts of " Scenery Name" with no problems. I have a clean install FS9 (no add-ons) on a laptop, so it may be an idea to compare some folders as this works OK, time permitting. What was more worrying was if this problem had evolved elsewhere, but up to now that doesn't seem to have happened, so fingers crossed. Cheers Echofox (parked 7 miles from egnh)
June 15, 201312 yr It is most definitely not a mesh problem. Mesh has nothing t do with textures. This is a landclass problem. Somewhere in you addons you have a bad landclass file. Finding it is a process of elimination. By turning off your addons in batches and testing you can pinpoint which file(s) are causing the problem. This can take some time if you have a lot of addons. The fastest way is the 50% method. Disable half of your addons and test. If the problem is still there turn off half of the remaining addons, if the problem goes away add half of what you tuned off back in and test. BTW, the area you are having problems with will be in NAMC, not NAME regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
June 15, 201312 yr Author Hi Joe, will do your test, realised it probably wasn't mesh between these posts. You are most likely correct as I installed payware Chicago and had the same problem, then found it wouldn't work on Win7, deleted and all was well. Will keep you informed as to results, may be in the week, committed rest of weekend ! G
June 16, 201312 yr Author Hi Joe Had some spare time so started eliminating as you suggested, first batch brought up the culprit, a small add-on that enhances the Atlanta environs "Atlanta Adjust - alturep." This adjusted landclass around Atlanta and has been installed for some years, it didn't affect around Atlanta itself but obviously had the reverse further afield. Deleting this from the Library has cured the problem, although in fairness to the author it may still work with some experimenting. A few months ago I purchased Horizon's Chicago which had the same effect, but this was due to it being for XP and would no way work with 7. Many thanks for your help and time, next time ??? I'll switch my brain on ! By the way, who would have thought Georgia was in central USA, you could fail exams with this one, so much for education. Regards Grant
June 16, 201312 yr Glad you sorted it out and happy to help. By the way, who would have thought Georgia was in central USA It isn't. It is, however in central North America, in terms of East to West. regards, Joe PS. KJAX only makes it into NAME by about 40 nm The best gift you can give your children is your time.
