June 15, 201312 yr I believe I have answered some of this myself, but I wasn't actually sure about it, so, nothing better than asking the right guys the right answers :-) All of the following are related to sceneries from SimHeaven. 1) I assume the Continental scenery files, (osm + autogen or osm + only) subsume all of the country files, correct? So, for instance, there is no advantage in downloading / installing OSM Europe osm + autogen and OSM Croatia, right? 2) I believe that due to the lack of detailed data, the files for Europe without autogen are, by default, more filled with road & urban data than those for other continents, so, for the time being we should probably download OSM Europe osm + only and osm + autogen for the rest of the World? 3) I have a detailed scenery for Lisbon, including the airport and some emblematic city structures (the bridges, etc...). Under the section Airport & City Areas there is a tile for Lisbon, so I might try it but I wonder: - Isn't this subsumed by the OSM Europe osm + autogen? 4) What about the detailed "Photo Sceneries", "Airport and City Areas"? I have downloaded the one for Lisbon +38-010 (POR) Lisbon Area. I already had the tile for that area from Zones-Photo, so I moved it from my Custom Scenery folder, as I believe this detailed City of Lisbon Area from SimHeaven is ZL17 and more up-2-date. Is this correct? June 15, 201312 yr 1) right 2) it's your choice, but osm+autogen for Europe could be quite heavy for the system, and I don't like when too many objects overlap. You might still have some holes with OSM alone, but averall Europe and Russia are very well covered. Please note that roads are not changed at all by OSM2XP. 3) open the scenery_packs.ini file, and make sure your detailed scenery is before the OSM2XP one, and that should be fine. Usual order is: Airports and city scenery OSM Orthophoto scenery

No, the OSM Sceneries with and without autogen are more or less the same. The only difference is an additional exclusion for autogen buildings in the only OSM files. As Pascal wrote it is more a question of performance and look which kind of map you prefer. Once the autoexclude for density populated areas work, there will no longer be any only or autogen files to choose from. The problem is more: some cities are nearly completely filled with buildings data, while some smaller villafesw or suburbs don't exist at all. That was one of the situations were Urban Max became handy. It uses OSM data too, but it only uses area descriptions: Where there was a city area it simply replaced the standard textures with its city texture. So these suburbs and small villages were there. On the other hand parks in the city were suddenly filled with building textures. Karsten Schubert
