X-Crafts dev interview...
Well, maybe you did also took the bait? 😄 Thanks for the effort, but I'm not interested in what you think about Linux, especially since the tone seems to have switched to sarcastic mode 😉 But again, and here I'm serious, I'm actually concerned about how you repeatedly confine "Linux users" in that pesky category that apparently annoys you so much. Boooooh, Im one of "those"!!! 🤣

X-Crafts dev interview...
I'm a bit surprised. Ben has explained in the past the main reason why: a lot of 3rd party and some Laminar developers (used to?) work on Linux. That has for sure attracted quite a few developers to the X-Plane ecosystem. As Ben himself is not especially a Linux fan, I guess the decision was purely pragmatic. Also, I would guess that the Android version was made a bit easier by having an already working Linux compilation path.

X-Crafts dev interview...
Aah, the old argument used to silence Linux users. And yes, this is the way to make me react, apparently "proving your point", just to let you know that I never "vocally" promote Linux, at most discuss it in a dedicated thread. Yes, I love my OS (can you say such a thing about yours?). Yes, I'm grateful for Laminar Research to support it (and you're surely aware as to why they support it). No, I don't have any drivers issues - you are apparently not up to date with this old "fact", this is very rare now, and nowadays it looks like the tides has turned, hum... Windows 11, looking at you ! 🙂

X-Plane 12.4 vs. MSFS 2024 SU4
"Knowing" you since all these years, I think you have a cognitive dissonance between what you think you want, and what you really want, because you always end up flying the more eye candy sim. Maybe that's the real source of your frustration? Sorry for my cheap psychological analysis! 😁 It's the internet after all.

Video showing how Gorgeous Xp12 can look !
Yes of course, default lighting in X-Plane is now very good, especially since it avoids wrong purple tints at sunset. Why reintroduce that purple, even more saturated, is beyond me.

Ughhh, those oversaturated colors are uggly. 🤢 The dominant purple is totally unrealistic. Sorry.

XP12.4 on a Linux System - Impressed Very
Great move, @coastaldriver, I've been on (Ubuntu) Linux forever, and X-Plane is one of the simulations/games (ie graphic heavy software) that doesn't need any compatibility layer, and where native Linux runs as well if not better than other OS's. I'm very grateful to Laminar for that fact.

Installing Linux for X-Plane
Same machine code ? Certainly not (or maybe I misunderstand what you mean by "machine code"). Each OS has his own code for hardware access, memory managment, disk access,... And there are thousands reasons the performance can be different on different OSs. As I said, X-Plane's performance is usually better on Linux, at least in my case. But not "jawdropingly better". 🙂

Installing Linux for X-Plane
That should not worry you. Linux won't do anything bad to your Windows partitions, unless you do it yourself and erase some random things. Contrary to what HumptyDumpty said, Ubuntu shows your NTFS (Windows) partitions by default, and mounts them if you click on their icon. "Mounting" just means making the filesystem accessible, and writeable if the partition is not read-only. FYI, you won't get "greatly increased" performance. You will get better performance. People tend to exaggerate. 🙂

Installing Linux for X-Plane
On Ubuntu, could you run your system monitor and show a screenshot of the file systems tab?. With your description, I don't really understand where your Ubuntu is installed. It's normal that Windows doesn't see the main Linux partition, it doesn't know it's file system (probably ext4).

FlyJSim's B727 update coming soon
Hi, My appreciation was based on the first iteration of the plane. This is v2 and a lot of work have been done. I'm also careful with the word "study", because it raises some expectations, like a fully simulated fmc, which is might not be the case here (the freeware fmc is very good, but I didn't test the integration yet). However, add the CIVA navigation system and you have a fully simulated 70s airliner. Much more challenging to master than an NG. I think Jack Skieczius decided to add the "study" label after a pilot who was on a 727 for many years suggested that it was deserved. Cheers, Pascal

Safe to delete or remove default aircraft?
I prefer to create my own folders inside the aircraft folder (or even outside), with custom subfolders for categories. More practical than deleting the defaults after each update. Pascal
