Ughhh, those oversaturated colors are uggly. 🤢 The dominant purple is totally unrealistic. Sorry.

Fully agree, colours are completely off and rather hideous for my taste.

Colors are not endemic to X-Plane itself, but rather a result of addons like BluFX and adjustments in X-Plane.  I've never seen anything that blue.

Yes of course, default lighting in X-Plane is now very good, especially since it avoids wrong purple tints at sunset. Why reintroduce that purple, even more saturated, is beyond me.

I need to run XP12 in B&W mode for 2 weeks to recover from this

Way too much color.

Why some people think if you slap the saturation to 150% in the video editor, means the graphics should be better? It's vice versa literally. In real life, colors are tamed more or less, with less contrast as our eyes have high dynamic range.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

This is a very old discussion that ultimately boils down to personal taste and the question: "Do you want your world in flight simulation to look like the real world - or the way you would like the real world to look?".

Hi,

I prefer this look, yet the contrast/color still needs some work.

  • 2 weeks later...

While this video sort of "nerds out" on helicopter operation in X-Plane, I do feel that it also shows how gorgeous XP12 can look.

Disclaimer: I made the video, it is featuring default XP12 with no add-on but the showcased UH60M, a freeware helicopter made by Melbo...who let me help with a few small details 🙂
