I need some further understanding of the correct scenery declaration order in scenery_packs.ini

The readme mentions "Regional" sceneries, but for instance I do not know if the Madeira Airport scenery should be considered as such an isolated airport or some kind of region. The same happens to the Tenerife scenery pack.

 

Of course, some Airport sceneries like "LPPT Lisboa PLP" extend past the area of the airport and even place a lot of buildings and other structures downtown and in adjacent cities. For instance, the southern margin of Tagus river is filled with RL structures, monuments, etc.. that are very far from the airport area. Shouldn't this be considered a "Regional" scenery?

Not necessary, these settings only control priority. As long as they don't pose a conflict with other sceneries they can be in front. Wzhile you are talking about sceneries  that describe a small area, it is unlikely that somone else will redefine values in this area with a better quality.

Regarding the declaration sequence, there are already some hints around.

Additionally I am doing it as follows: in the file manager I am adding for each custom scenery the country code (e.g. D for Germany, GB for Great Britain, ....) and an underscore to the beginning of the folder name - so I have a clear order not only in the scenery_packs.ini (see further below), but also in the file hierarchy on the hard disk.

Still one step missing: to get this order into the scenery_packs.ini, I have to delete it every time and restart X-Plane. This can be done automagically with a batch file (e.g. in Windows):

Don't know how to do it on a Mac - Linux users know themselves, how to write a batch file :

You have to place the batch file into the X-Plane root folder, make a shortcut to the desktop and you're done.
