How do y'all manage Megascenery V2 and loading time

Featured Replies

Have all 41 ME2 released to date States installed. Only activate those or that which I am flying in, maximum eight, covering the great lakes. Orbx Central set to default....Desktop to Free Flight = 70 seconds; Free Flight (after making selections) to Cockpit = 3 min 05 sec;  to Load previous flight at point of prior exit (Free Flight <Load> to cockpit = 2 min 50 secs.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

There was a concern expressed in another thread about using Scenery Configuration Editor in conjunction with FTX Central (Orbx).  As I'm both a happy Orbx user with all their NA regions, and an ever more heavily invested MSE user (7 v2 states, and counting, plus several MSX products, my original v1 tiles have been retired) plus some Blue Sky photo, I need to be able to manage all of these.  Right now I'm doing that with FTX Central for turning Orbx regions on and off, and FSX for managing my other scenery libraries directly (but only after having turned Orbx regions off with "Central").

Can anyone comment?

Rob, I don't know how you can leave all of your photo areas enabled and have short load times.  Short of having big multiple SSD's, I just don't see how that's possible.  My photo scenery all lives on a dedicated (traditional) HD, and if I leave all of it enabled, my load times are beyond ugly.

Yes, I wouldn't activate/disable Orbx scenery via the Scenery Config Editor.  Just use FSX Central for that.  Other than that you can use Scenery Config Editor to enable/disable everything else (but I would leave the default scenery alone - just addons).

Best regards,

Jim
