iFly + Joystick or PMDG 737?

Featured Replies

Hello all! :hi:

As i´m a poor teenager that just got into the FS world I only have the money for the iFly + joystick or the PMDG 737 only

I am thinking about buying the iFly + joystick because the joystick is the most useful of the items, and since i´m tired of flying posky craft (nothing wrong with them) I also want to fly a more realistic aircraft.

While comparing the prices it gets a whole lot more expensive in swedish currency

So I need your advice here, is the iFly that far from the PMDG in realism and graphics?   I get the PMDG is supposed to simulate reality but is the iFly a stripped down version (Easier to start & fly and only some systems are working) or is it like the PMDG?

And the fact that you get the -600 -700 -800 -900 + the BBJ models all together for a fairly cheap price with the iFly is really tempting since I really don´t want to pay loads of cash for the 800/900 + the 600/700 (PMDG)

So iFly + joystick or just the PMDG?

You need to do a forum search.  This topic has been covered many times over the last two years.

Also, seriously don't buy any thing until you get proper hardware.  That is a joystick or preferably yoke and throttle.  Possibly look at some rudder pedals.

I'd recommend a yoke and rudder pedals, too.

For the casual simmer, the iFly and the PMDG 737NG are both great simulations. (To spot the differences, you need to be more 'hardcore'.) You'd be fine with the iFly, even though I, personally, prefer the PMDG:

- easier panel state saving and re-loading

- terrain on ND graphically is more pleasant to the eye - in the iFly it becomes a strain after a few minutes.

If you had been on FS9 before with the iFly FS9 version, the iFly FSX cross-licence would be cheaper than the new PMDG licence - but this does not apply in your case.

What happened to AVSIM

I have both pmdg 737 and joystick w-throttle. Hands down get the joystick first. The jet is great but the game is just much better with a joystick.

I will order a joystick with a rudder soon. But it just isn´t satisfying descending like a clumpsy tube during the approach. and I fly on ivao so it´s pretty much me without tickets on a big amusementpark  :P

gameseek.co.uk have a fairly cheap price on both the iFly & the NGX....

Is that a store that is reliable or something because the prices are about 20% cheaper for me if you compare with the other retailers,  becasue the shipping fee to Sweden wasn´t that bad..
