October 24, 200421 yr I'm wondering why the stock ATC in FS9 so often vectors you into a position where you can absolutely not establish yourself on the localizer. This seems to happen more often with add-on airports than with the stock ones that came with the sim.Any way to improve one's odds of getting correct vectors?ricardo

I use ATC all the time and fly a different place in the US on each flight. I do not have any add-on airportam however.
October 24, 200421 yr Check out the AFCAD with AFCAD2 for those airports and compare them to the base default AFCAD to see if all NAVAIDS are present. You can also include in your flightplan your own waypoints to the initial fixes of an established approach if you have the plates and request those instead of vectors if allowed. Why don't you describe the vectoring problem in terms of localizer interception so we can comment.I use Radar Contact 3.1 as mentioned by another poster. It is AI aware and will call traffic advisories but can't control them. The next version 4.0, release date unknown, will provide some AI control and trend analysis to provide better merging of your aircraft with AI. Until then the current version offers a "NOTAM" option which will allow you to deviate from "advisories" on vectoring without terminating IFR. For now a TCAS instrument added to your panel is highly recommended so you can pace your approaches to merge with AI trends.
