FSX is not compatible for SLI, you will be wasting your big time money. I have 27" Dell Ultra Sharp screen and just purchased a 780 and man oh man, the performance is striking. For example on the ngx, frames will not increase, but performance will indeed, your sim will run a lot smoother. If you are in fsx for keeps, don't short change yourself, get the 780 and you will be satisfied for the next few years, by the way previously I had a 580 GTX

Thanks for the recommendation, my plans to upgrade my computer have been put on the shelf for the moment, too much going on... -_-

I am selling of the part from my previous build which included 2 GTX 580's.

I have purchased all my parts for the new build which includes a GTX 780.

I have used SLI since the GTX8800 and I Would say that SLI is just not worth it

I have often forgot to reactivate SLI after running FSX and then played other games such as Codemasters F1 2010, Dirt 3, Grid and did notice any performance loss. Its mostly in our heads and the hardware manufactures know that. Even it you play other graphics intensive games that use SLI I would give it a miss unless you are using multiple monitors. Spend the $650 on SSD's, not another GTX 780. I went for Samsung 840 Pro's

Few weeks ago I upgraded my pc after my previous motherboard died on me.  Before the 4770k I had a 980X @ 4.5ghz and I can say the difference in FPS is huge. I rather go with a newer/faster OC'd CPU than a newer GPU. My current AA Nvidia Inspector setting is 8xS with 4x Supersampling... Using sceneries like the ones from FSDT or FlightBeam and using the weather preset "major thunderstorm" with Carenado SR22 Cirrus I get 30 FPS... Current settings in P3D are the following... Frames Unlocked - LOD 5.5 - Mesh 10m - Autogen Very Dense - Water Sky, Clouds, Sim Objects - Clouds 90mi... No AI Traffic... everything else in max...

This screenshot is form FSDT LAX from runway 25R, weather in "major thunderstorm" and using Carenado Cirrus...

(BTW I don't use SLI in P3D... It cuts my FPS by 5 and strutters)...
