BEST SCENERY ENHANCEMENT

Featured Replies

Could someone let me know what you all consider the best scenery enhancement for FS9, re:terrain, buildings ect..without a huge framerate hit......appreciate it.JimMesa, Arizona

I vote for the FREE FSGenesis terrain mesh for the US found in the AVSIM library. Look for the large packages (West Coast, Rockies etc, rather than the many many smaller ones).

I agree, mesh makes the most dramatic improvement in scenery, followed by improved Landclass, also available from FS Genesis.Jim

I was going to say exactly the same. Mesh will make your video card work a little more but the impact is minimum (very minimum) and the level of detail is from out of this world.Get all the Western USA, but don't just stay there, get mesh for the rest of North America, Europe, South America and Asia and the rest of the world too.You only have to be aware that if you have a dial up connection (like I do) it will take a long time to get those packages (USA rockies are more than 100 Mb) but is really worth it. I'd suggest you get the partial packages one by one, instead of the whole download if you have dial up.Look for them in the Avsim library and in Flightsim. Also in the FS Genesis web page they offer a couple of free files.Leo

If you like to fly Alaska - wich i think is still part of the Usa - do not search any further than Raimondo Taburetand the best Alaska terrain mesh freeware every produced - will be yours - and yes is also here at the avsim library.ray

Scenery enhancements by Holger Sandmann are generally meant to be really good. They cover mesh and improved coast lines / land class I think and the famous ones are for areas like British Columbia / Alaska. Haven't tried them yet myself but will probably do sometime I get my fs2004 computer actually working again!!Hope this helpsPierre

UK VFR photographic scenery and terrain. Brilliant.John

Raimondo Taburet also does mesh for the "lower 48" in three sections - Western, Eastern and Central - each section is subdivided into several downloads and totals about 500+ MB per section.Well worth the download.Dave

FS Genesis terrain mesh is my No.1 addon scenery enhancement. Most of it is not free, except the 38m mesh on AVSIM, but very cheap (like $9.95 for the whole of the USA; same price for the whole of Europe) and worth its weight in gold in my opinion.Martin
