question about networking with ase

Featured Replies

hello

i will be networking ase 2012 on my 2nd pc but i have a newbie question . i would like your opinion on what type of networking device should i use because i discovered that hubs and switches assign automatic ip's to the pc's but that cant happen because when setting up simconnect you need to have an ip that wont change (correct me if im wrong ). also crossover cable wont let you to use internet so then how will ase get data for the weather ( i am all new to networking so please bear with me )  :P

Only if they are 'managed' then in which case turn off the DHCP on those devices assuming IP addresses are assigned by a router.

You need to setup "static IP" addresses on each PC, but be sure that the static IP address range is not in same IP range of the routers DHCP settings.

For example, if you select the following:

Client PC    198.168.1.50

Server PC   198.168.1.51

If the routers range is from 198.168.1.100 to 198.168.1.149, then there will be no conflict.
