New graphic card for FSX - noticeable performance?

Featured Replies

My GTX560Ti almost out of warranty so I sold it (yeah, out of warranty = less money and hard to sell) and look for a better one.

From what I know the 650Ti is not as powerful as 560Ti. The 660Ti and the new GTX760 is faster and more powerful.

I'm changing to FSX now so it will be my main sim. Should I get the 660Ti / 760? Does the difference noticeable (comparing to GTX560Ti)?

When I use my GTX560Ti, my system didn't handle well FSX. I don't know if it's the CPU or the VGA that needs upgrading.

Thanks all!

I used to have a GTX 570 1.2 GB, but I went to a 670 4 GB later on. Works quite well. Not as expensive as the 700 series, but it does the job for me.

I don't run FSX on super high AA settings though, which would be why some people would want to go with the 700 series cards versus the 600 cards. Upgrading to a faster video card mainly improves the visual quality (anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering). That would be the only reason people would want to upgrade a video card for FSX, that I can think of. The other thing, with higher AA settings or more autogen spawned, you'll need a card with more VRAM, so that's another reason to upgrade. I use around 1 GB VRAM for my setup, but if people run really high AA settings, the VRAM usage will be higher than what I have.

For me, I have quite a few addons, such as airports, flrom fs dreamteam, latin vfr, and Flightbeam, UTX/GEX, Rex essential plus, and so on, I used to have a 580gtx, and just within the last 2 weeks, I went for broke and purchased a 780gtx.  The main difference that I noticed is definitely lthat FSX, is much much, more smoother, is it worth spending that much ?  Well that's your call, on how much FSX will be part of your life??  good luck.....
