FS2004 Grass Texture opinion

Just ran into these grass textures for FS2004 and like to know peoples opinion  are they a bit to much?

 i thought so to it did come with some other options but they seem to shimmer to much, these are the only ones that don't shimmer  i kinda like it  :P

 

Any one else??  if i get to many negative opinions on these grass textures i can always roll back   :lol:

I think you will find that these textures will suit some areas and be unsuitable in others. The same problem came to light in the FSX world when Orbx released FTX Global. The bottom line is use these textures if they please your eyes in the areas you fly.

Yes i was just flying over the mountains in France VFR dint look so good, but as u mentioned flying over certain areas to me looks pretty realistic but not all that's for sure B)

With more than 10,000 species of grass, FS9 (or any other flight sim) is going to find itself severely limited in the number textures available to accurately reproduce the real world! :O

My airport grass textures of choice are Zinertek's airport environment textures combined with Pablo Diaz' freeware HDE V2 "detail1" file for the close-up effect.  Looks terrific on the ground, and doesn't look strange at altitude.

I have pablo diaz  detail1.bmp but it was a bit to Shimmery to me  maybe just on my computer not sure

Yes, it does shimmer a bit more than other options, but I've found with the right Nvidia Inspector settings that it's barely noticeable. I have in-game mip-mapping set to 4, and use 8xS AA and 2x SGSS settings in Nvidia Inspector, with all Anisotropic options selected as well.
