Starting Tubeliners?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My first post on this forum, so far I have been flying fast jets and military aircraft in FSX, but I am starting to get interested in tubeliners, I was wondering, what is a good starting payware that is high qualty, I was thinking the Majestic Dash 8 as I like the idea of regional airliners, or the QW 146 collection, any suggestions?

You listed the two best regional planes. For medium haul, there is the PMDG 737, and the Airbus X Extended. For long haul there is a the upcoming pmdg 777.

Definitely agree with the above. I'm not sure on the complexity you're looking for, and what military jets you've used. If you are a VRS Superbug guy, and know it well, you should be able to cope with high-complexity airliners.

For short-haul, the QW 146 is great, especially if you're relatively new to jets, and it can be light on systems if you want to fly it that way. Another great part about that airliner is the upcoming expansion to add the classic 146 range to it, I personally can't wait for that! The Q400 is also a great pick, and the learning curve isn't too steep. For a slightly older regional you could also consider PMDG's J41. Great little aircraft! Do the tutorial a few times though.....and if you do get it, be prepared to roast and engine or two along the way when you first start out....

For medium-haul, agree with the AAX and the NGX. The AAX is not as heavy system-wise as the NGX, and has a checklist system that can help you along the way. The NGX though is basically the top-notch airliner right now. It's worth the work learning this aircraft though, and will probably never get old. Milviz also just released a 737-200 that looks very promising, if you're in to classics. I've heard decent things about the Coolsky DC-9 as well, which is old school with no FMS.

For long-haul, as said the upcoming T7 will be the one to get. PMDG's 747 is due for an update a little bit after that, if you'd rather have the Queen. Their MD-11 is also great, but is a little outdated in terms of the VC, but full on with systems.

Regards,

Kyle

Many thanks guys, I think I am going to get the Dash 8, I like the look and sound of it after watching Frooglesims videos on youtube, but thanks none the less!!! The NGX is next on my list...
