FMC "NOT IN DATA BASE"

Recommended Posts

Aaaarrgh !!  Sum Ting Wong   After flawless NGX operation for the longest time, I go to fly today and, out of nowhere, I have a serious problem.  Every time I enter the runway number in the route page, it responds "not in data base".  This happens on practically every airport, although there are some that work fine.  I haven't been able to determine any sort of relationship between the airports that work, and those that don't.  I don't know if this is an FSX problem or an NGX problem.  In fact, I know nothing and have no hope of figuring it out on my own without further jeapordizing my sim.  Help, please.

Have you tried to update the Airac on your airplane? That should solve your problem.

Yeah, I forgot to mention ... I installed 1308 as soon as it was available and flew for a while without a problem.  This problem just started today.  I did re-install 1308, but that didn't help.

Are you entering the runway numbers by hand, or selecting them from the DEP/ARR page?

Hello Kyle,

Yes, I am entering by hand, as I have always done, but I will try the other way and report back.

Report back:  This is really strange.  I am very fond of FSDT's KFLL and I use it as takeoff airport a LOT.  Every other time takeoff has been on 27R.  Now, starting today I received the "not in database" message.  Thanks to your suggestion, I check the dep/arr page and the choice is 28R.  27R is still painted on the runway.  At least I can finish programming the route.  I'll check and see what has happened on some of the other airports I use frequently.  Weird .... REPENT the end is near.

That's probably why, honestly.  The runway numbers may have changed.  Either they added a L, C or R to it, or the number was updated due to magnetic dec.  As an example, Roanoke (ROA) changed from 15/33 to 16/34 within the past few years.

Any time you get an error like that, go to the DEP/ARR page and check to make sure the one you're trying to enter is listed there.  If not, and it hasn't had a name change, you should contact Navigraph.

FLL changed to 10L & 28R. The airac is correct but the afcad for FLL is wrong. Happens with FSDreamteam ORD too.

Ya'll hit the nail on the head.  Now that I recall, I don't think I've flown out of KFLL since I updated the AIRAC.  Glad you figured it out ... that one would have bothered me for a while.  I suppose the next Virtuali update will repaint the runways.

Thanks again, Kyle and Richie

The reason you get a "not in database" error is because there is no longer a real-world SEQU airport.

SEQU airport, the original Mariscal Sucre International airport in Quito, was closed in 2013 - it no longer exists. The new Mariscal Sucre airport, which is several miles away, opened at the same time, and has the identifier SEQM.

Since SEQM would not exist in the 2006-vintage default FSX/P3D cenery, I assume you would have to install a freeware or payware add-on if you want to fly there.

Or you can manually add the airport to your navdata, something that would be required each cycle.

Please use your full name in your posts to the PMDG forums, just one of the rules here.

That's not how you add an airport manually.  There are four files that are required to have add an airport with navaids:  airports.dat, wpNavAPT.txt, wpNavAID.txt and the sidstar file for the airport.  The first time is a learning experience. If you want to try then google 'how to add vhhx to pmdg' to find numerous how to links.
