August 7, 201312 yr One of the things I have noticed with the 850 is the aircraft has a tendency to drift sharply to the left during the final couple of hundred feet just before landing. You can try and compensate with the rudder which turns the plane however it's like some big hand just pushes the plane. Now this is with no cross winds and gentle head winds to boot. I don't know if the actual aircraft is like this or not. The lancair IVP has an extreme pull to the left during takeoff which is realistic but not during landings and the 850 doesn't pull like this during take off. So I was curious if the settings need to be dumbed down a bit or is this plane a handful to land? "Why, he just jumped into the air and kept right on going."
August 7, 201312 yr The rudder behavior is odd for this plane, in that the roll factor is either absent or reversed.. If you are used to correcting with the rudder, you are going to find yourself no longer lined up with the runway. As an immediate fix, only use the ailerons for correcting the landing approach. No rudder, both feet on the floor. To get an adjusted airfile with more conventional rudder behavior, send me a PM with your email address. Bert
