Hi. I wanted to know if I upgraded my gpu in my current pc would I see a noticeable increase in framerates. Right now in the ngx I get about 20 fps with sliders turned down a lot on scenery and and I don't really fly with much clouds because my fps gets really low around them.

 

My specs:

 

Intel i7 2600 @3.4 ghz

GeForce gt 545

460w psu

 

I was thinking of getting a gtx 650 or something around that price.

make sure you have enough power supply. check Tomshardware.com

What PSU is that exactly? brand & model or 12V rail amperage

Overlock to 4ghz at least and yes a little more juice; 700 ish. Newer vid cards need two 8 pin or 8 and 6 pin power connectors.

GTX 650 is a 64W TDP card. Your current 545 is 70W so the PSU should be up to the job. 

If you don't have a 6 pìn PCIe connector but you have a free molex connector in the PSU, you can use a molex to pcie adapter.

Also make sure you have room in your case for the bigger card

That's a reasonable AA level.

If I were you I would make sure you're GPU limited before buying a new GPU although a 650 should definitely help with clouds.

GTX650 = good choice!
