Thanku I'll give it a go, I had sweetfx working perfectly fine until I tried someone else's presets and bingo never worked again CTD all the time can't even open fsx tried to put settings back to the way I had them but no good trying to do a fresh install to see if that work's thanks for the direction.

Cheers Rod.

You won't have to perform a fresh install Rod, simply take your unzipped SweetFX files and copy and overwrite the existing files in FSX, and make sure you include the SweetFX folder.  That should fix it for you.

I had the same issue when I overwrote the SweetFX files but I failed to include the new SweetFX folder and it broke SFX.which in turn caused FSX to crash.

You can delete the SFX files and delete your FSX.cfg, a new one will be created when you restart FSX.

Thanks ACA I didn't know that if you change the settings you have to include the new SFX folder? am I reading that correct? I have done a fresh install and it's back to normal.

Cheers Rod.

The SweetFX folder contains dll, Presets and Shaders folder's and I think the latter is the important one that has to be contained within FSX in order for SFX to function.  So did you do a complete SFX install or the whole sim?  Glad that you got it fixed.
