August 16, 201312 yr Hi Opus became unresponsive and an upgrade did not rectify nor did a repair so I went for a clean re install however the F1 installer wont open any suggestions ? thanks ZORAN
August 16, 201312 yr Commercial Member I've only heard of OpusFSX becoming unresponsive when a virus or spyware scanner was hogging the system. If you can't run the Flight1 installer ... You need to make sure Data Execution Protection (DEP) allows the EXE to run. You can check your DEP settings by right-clicking My Computer, select Properties/Advanced/Settings/Data Execution Protection. You can select the "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" option (see image), or try to add the EXE you downloaded to the exception list. Also, ensure that you have full Administrator access to the computer and you may need to disable any virus scanner or spyware program that is running. If you still have problems refer to the Flight1 website troubleshooting. If all else fails then download it on another computer, make sure it runs, and then move it to your flight sim computer using the Flight1 licence transfer tool. Cheryl
August 20, 201312 yr If I can add a question as well. I just had to do a reinstall as well, and the original flight1 installer was fine as was the current beta. However, what files do I need to replace to get back to my original state? I have the original folders backed up although the new ones are in different locations now. Also the cam definition files specify views previously for a bunch of different aircraft, and at present on the new fsx install I only have a few of those. Will this affect how it reads the views for currently installed ones? Thanks. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
August 20, 201312 yr Commercial Member If you have backed up your OpusFSX folder then you can just copy the original DAT, CMD and CAM files into your new location's OpusFSX folder. Please note that you should not have more then one copy of the OpusFSX folder on your PC otherwise it will just run in demo mode, just rename the folder to something else and it should be fine. This also applies to the Opus Software folder. Cheryl
August 20, 201312 yr Thanks for reply. I copied those particular files, and now it says "unable to access the installation folder, check your configuration....." It worked before I did this, so I assume this is because the files I copied had the original path in it whereas all the program files are now on a nother drive and directory. The license files remain on their original location. Is there an edit I can do to change the path within? CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
August 20, 201312 yr Commercial Member Please just open your Configure dialog and check your configuration settings, something that should always be done after upgrading as well. Also make sure you don not have OpusFSX installed in more than one location or on more than one drive. Stephen
August 20, 201312 yr Please just open your Configure dialog and check your configuration settings, something that should always be done after upgrading as well. How can I open the configure dialog if that message comes up first and closes pressing ok. Before I copied the above files, I did indeed configure the path and all was working. It was only after I copied those files am I getting this message. So its not letting me into the program at all. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
August 20, 201312 yr Commercial Member Please check that you do not have an OpusFSX in any other location or more than ine copy installed. Download the latest release or beta, uninstall your current version and re-install the downloaded copy afresh. Then edit and check your Configure and all Weather dialogs. If your program is closing the it is detecting something seriously wrong with the current installation. Stephen
August 20, 201312 yr Commercial Member Have you reinstalled your FSX as well. If so you must step through the Getting Started Guide for Single PCs again, setting up your sharing, sharing permissions, and security permissions etc. Stephen
August 20, 201312 yr yes this is off the back of a new FSX install. All is ok now. Seems like once you have the old version installed via flight1 wrapper, you transfer those CAM and DAT files, which will screw it up of course, then uninstalling it which retains the camera definitions, and then installing the beta. I installed a new version beta and then transferred the CAM files and it messed it up. Thanks CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
August 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Transferring your backed up CAM files across to a new install shouldn't cause a problem unless you go back to a previous version of OpusFSX. It could have been the DAT configuration files causing a problem since you changed the location of your installation. Anyway glad you are up and running again. Cheryl
