August 16, 201312 yr I had to do a sytem recovery. Before that , I disconnected my external hard drive, that's where everything related to simming is stored. When it was plugged back in, I went through my folders and moved each addon back to the desktop. When the icons were clicked on instead of the program opening right up like it did before, it opened them up back in the folder. Does anyone know how it can be made where you click on the icon on the desktop and it opens up directly?
August 16, 201312 yr Sure! Just go to the programs execute, like FSX.exe and right click it and "Send to" Create Shortcut on desktop. You can also do this with any file or folder. For instance, I have the fsuipc.log on my desktop for quick review after a session with FSX. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! August 17, 201312 yr When you plugged the HDD containing the FSX files, your system probably gave it a new drive letter. Open up Windows Explorer and look for the HDD containing your fsx.files. Goto the main fsx folder and look for fsx.exe (it may just show FSX as you may have "show known file extensions" turned off) (think it is off by default). In any case, just look for FSX (the application) in Windows Explorer, right click it and sent it to your desktop. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! August 17, 201312 yr Author Trying to open FS Crew I got this pop up; FSX is not installed correctly, the registry is not pointing to the location of your FSX.EXE. file. Before using FS2 Crew 2010- PMDG 737 Edition you will need to correctly install the Flight Simulator X or fix the FSX registry entry. I don't know how pertainent that pop up is, but so far I really can't find the EXE. Looking at the whole pic. do you think it would be best if I delete everything on my external hard drive and re-install everything? Or could there be an easier way?
August 17, 201312 yr As I stated above, when you replugged your external HDD back in, Windows gave the drive another drive letter. You should go to the following link and download the Registry Repair tool - http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library. If that does not fix your problem then YES reinstall Windows and FSX but don't delete everything. Just rename the fsx folder to fsx.old (i.e., Microsoft Flight Simulator X OLD). August 18, 201312 yr Author I tried the registry tool but to no avail. I then renamed FSX to FSX-OLD, that was a bit of a struggle because the pop up was telling me that it couldn't be done because maybe part of it was somewhere else, but some how I got it done. The installation of FSX has failed me twice by freezing up in the same spot on the first disc.I'm installing it on my External Hard Drive same place as before. It looks like it's going to be a long night!
August 18, 201312 yr Author I was doing many things and finally got FSX to work. The bad news is the accelerator won't activate. Is it really needed? Now I have to get FUISPC, EZDOK and others to work.
