Black screen

Featured Replies

Im having a bad run with FSX lately Im going to have to stop tinkering..

Everything going the best its been and then downloaded an app. that allows me to change textures in fsx.cfg and shortly after I got a black screen after loading.

After trying many fixes (google is full of it) I decided to load my back up that was only done yesterday and still I get a Black screen!

So the problem is either my video card that just passed a 60min bench test or something in my FSx cfg folder?

any ideas guys?

Hi  this option is  only  to be used as your last work around,   have you tried  using the restore option  to when you had a working  copy of  fsx

yes I but there was only one restore point and not sure it it was before the event. But I would have thought the back up restore would have been the best option?

nothing much in event viewer either

Strange  that it didn't  work, supposed you tried  let fsx  build  a new cfg I know you said  your  went back to your original  but  let fsx build  a new cfg, don't think its your  video card or  else you will be having problems  with other  programs on your pc  etc, since  you only  said its effecting fsx

you  just jogged my memory, in my hurry today i reformatted the MFS drive without uninstalling first and leaving the FSX cfg folder on C drive still there. I will do a manual uninstall and back up again..

Finally get it all sorted, had to run a repair but then had CDT and the event viewer was "simprop 2"  Turns out I needed to uninstall service pack 1 and 2 before the repair.

I did that and everything was okay and sim started okay so i re installed service pack 1

HOwever service pack 2 will not install and just rolls back

Im reading that to fix this I need to uninstall FSX again!!

This cant be happening.
