Have any of you try the Wilco TBM850? Any review?

Thanks

Is it out already? Not sure what to think about the website. One can place an order for the DVD, but that's happening at Sept 15th.

  • 3 months later...

Bought it last night

when installed (full admin on install and FSX) and my computer not re-booted, it ran like a slide show, looked great as far as detail went but soooo slow

however

after re-booting the computer CTD every time the AC is loaded, tried re-installs no anti-virus etc. Waiting on Wilco support but I've got a bad feeling again about Wilco QC

my advice is wait and see on this one,  give them a chance  just not your money........yet

HAL 9000....... When FMC's go bad........very bad

Same here. CTD whenever I try to load the aircraft. No other changes to my system or FSX except to install the addon.

Wilco appears to have a Quality problem.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just bought it last week, have taken it up for a few preliminary, basic test flights.   As one who

has been sorely disappointed by Wilco products more than once, I have to say that I've been

very impressed thus far.   I've had no problem with frame rates or CTD thus far at all, though

it's early yet.

I also own Carenado's TBM.    While Carenado's version is a clear winner in terms of

modeling/eye candy detail, I have to say that Wilco's far outscores Carenado's in terms of

handling.   The Wilco version handles like a dream; it gets up and goes like a rocket compared

to the Carenado model, whose acceleration and climb rates are comparatively very anemic.

The Wilco TBM is also rock solid stable.   I have no idea how a real TBM handles, but (and I

never thought I'd say this about any Wilco product) it's a heck of a lot more fun to fly.

Also, the documentation is superb.   The package includes several manuals and performance

charts.   There's one for the integrated cockpit that is alone over 90 pages long!

Don't get me wrong--while Carenado's visual model is first rate, and exceeds Wilco's, Wilco's is

not bad at all, and is more than comparable to many of the payware craft I've owned.   I have to

say it's on par with the RealAir Duke I have, which is absolutely no slouch in the modeling

department.

Though it's early yet, I am thus far thrilled that I took a chance and made the purchase (another

thing that I never thought I'd say about a Wilco product).   Hopefully this will be the rule with them,

as opposed to an exception.   I'm really looking forward to their upcoming Falcon 7X!
