August 29, 201312 yr Hi all I am thinking about changing my rig and already know what I would like to see within fsx but not sure exactly what sort of spec would achieve it ,so can anyone give me some pointers I'm basing my wants around a dx10 running rig that will give me 25 -30 fps at EGLL (uk2000 addon ) with the following settings Global texture - very high LOD -Large mesh complexity -100 mesh res - 2m texture res -15cm water - lo2.x land detail texture - ticked scenery complexity -extremely dense auto gen -very dense airline traffic -50% gen aviation-11% I currently use UT2 for ai traffic which is set at 100% and use Opus for weather and orbx England with the settings above with this I can get somewhere between 9-12 fps using my pmdg ngx which while sounding bad the only stuttering that I see is out the DV windows the view ahead is not nearly as stutter I currently have a i7 sandybridge 2700k oc to 4.7ghz with 8gb ram and a gtx 580 graphic card and no ssd drive . I have looked around and there are a couple of systems about that look like they might do the job but would like some advice if possible to see if they would meet the requirements There are 2 systems I've seen one has an i7 3930k oc to 4.7 with a gtx titan card the other has a an i7 4770k oc to 4.5 with a gtx 780 card both have ssd drives and with enough memory for any 64bit flightsims that may come in the future, ideally I want this to last for about 5 years with my settings that I currently have (or better if possible) with the possible exception of fsdreamteams jfk (which I don't own) my EGLL is about the worst I currently have on fps so I've based my requirements. so I would like your thought/advice please thanks rgds Pete Little
August 29, 201312 yr Pete ... you intend to keep the system for 5 years right? You have perused this forum, right? You have read Nick's Bible, right? You therefore know the answer.
