August 31, 201312 yr Hi. Just did an upgrade to an I7-4770K, mb, ram and fsx now has this on the display. Any ideas what it is and how to get rid of it? Interestingly, other aspects of fsx are now giving trouble as well. Ran well before the upgrades. Video card is still a 580gtx. Considering removing and reinstalling fsx but I shudder at the time it'll take as I have approx. 200 gigs there now. Dave
August 31, 201312 yr Looks like some auto-overclock-dial from a utility that probably came with your mb (and which you probably shouldn't have installed LOL ). Press control-shift-esc and check if there are any unwanted programs running in the background. Also run msconfig from the start menu (simply type msconfig in the search bar and run it) and check which items are loaded at windows startup.
August 31, 201312 yr Author Thanks very much. There is an overclocking utility that came with the package. The card runs basic at 3.5 and you can select 4.2. 4.4, 4.6.......simply. A local shop and a tech who's a gamer i've known for years did the install but we did not check it out with fsx at the shop. Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer with computers this seemed to be a simple solution......Guess I'm about to learn some more.
August 31, 201312 yr In regards to the I7 4770K Haswell setup, I have been using the following guide - http://www.simforums.com/forums/haswell-48ghz-on-air-building-a-haswell-system_topic46180.html. September 1, 201312 yr Author Thanks Jim, I'll give that a good read. Those green "funnels" in the circle on my fsx display vary in length and sometimes go a full 360 degrees. Dave
September 1, 201312 yr Jeroen has it. What you are seeing is an app called "Sonic Radar" - an ASUS application that optimizes something - I don't know what, but it's new. I've just finished building an ASUS Maximus VI mobo-i5-4670K-GTX760 this afternoon, and when installing "stuff" this popped, needing .net 4.0.30319... Cheeesh! Ain't technology a pain when they push stuff on you that you didn't know about or ask for??? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
September 2, 201312 yr Asus Sonic Radar The Sonic Radar audio positioning engine was developed by ASUS audio teams as a way to visualize in-game sound. Sonic Radar helps players detect opponents even without direct line of sight, by displaying an on-screen overlay that shows the relative position of gunshots, footsteps and other sound effects. Sonic Radar will be offered with all ROG gaming sound cards (including Xonar Phoebus and Xonar Phoebus Solo) and Maximus VI Series motherboards with SupremeFX from summer 2013. Just un-install it through the Control Panel, Dave.
