August 31, 201312 yr Have in FSX an issue with an elevation near Rio. Have just installed GEX Asia & South America, have several of these add-ons in FSX ( UT, GEX, ORBX Aust etc). Went to Rio and noticed an elevation issue near the airport as in the sea. Disabling both the new GEX & ORBX did not solve this issue which makes me think that it has always been there. Attached is a photo. Any suggestions, also can anyone tell me that the ORBX scenery files were at the top in the Library. Shall I put them at the bottom ( above the default scenery) were other texture files like UT etc are. Edited September 1, 201312 yr by firehawk44 Images removed as they exceeded the 400KB weight. Yours were 836KB and 790KB respectively. See Image Posting Rules under Forums Tab in above menu.
August 31, 201312 yr You should always use FTX Central to enable/disable Orbx sceneries. They will place the scenery in the right order and it is always at the top. You cannot disable GEX. GEX replaces your default textures and is not located in your Scenery Library. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 2, 201312 yr Author Thanks Jim for your quick reply about ORBX About Flight 1 GEX Asia & S. America this is the new World Edition unlike the other Regions of GEX like Middle East & Africa, USA & Alaska, Europe etc. which I have. It has a new interface were it is possible to able or disable the scenery in FSX, that is why I was able to disable. Still hoping for a solution about the land-filled crater in the water, on one photo angle it looks like a waterfall.
September 2, 201312 yr I believe GEX has nothing to do with mesh, textures only, and so could not have any effect on any elevations issues whether or not it is installed. Frank L.T

Still hoping for a solution about the land-filled crater in the water, on one photo angle it looks like a waterfall. Again, it has nothing to do with your Scenery Library whatsoever - http://www.simforums.com/forums/solved-add-on-sceneryscenery-files_topic46826.html (read second post). But I understand what you are saying. You can enable or disable the product with the new GEX interface. That's a completely different action. Reading the GEX manual, it states you must go to the Orbx FTX Central and change your FTX setting back to the default if you are flying in a non-Orbx area and using GEX. But, most likely, since this appears to be a landclass issue, it is UTX and the GEX developers recommend UTX for landclass. If you installed UTX or updated GEX after installing GEX, you need to run the GEX-UTX options in the interface so that the GEX interface can detect the changes. Hope this helps. September 2, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the suggestions Re-sized the deleted photo's, hope these are small enough. Only UTX Set-UP tool are that I have are USA,Canada and Europe or is UTX interface something different. As I am not an expert in tweaking, updating these sort of add-ons I have not upgraded anything, just installed the products and enjoyed the scenery as I do not want to make a mess of everything and have to start from scratch again with FSX. Hope that I am making a bit of sense.

You are right. The UTX program does not work in Brazil. Sorry for the confusion. I have the default scenery for Rio installed and I just finished looking around in the area and I did not see any anomalies along any of the shorelines in and around Rio. If you could post a picture of the area from a higher distance so someone can see where exactly the location is near Rio, we can check and maybe confirm this is an issue with the scenery. If you like flying in this region, you might want to try the FSX addon for that area - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oUgaonIWS0. That would fix any anomalies for sure! September 3, 201312 yr Author As requested I have attached a new photo, is there any reason why most of the scenery is perfect and one rock has an issue.
September 3, 201312 yr I do believe you have a corrupt installation as I think the following image shows the exact location on my computer. Quite a difference! Mine is a default installation. September 3, 201312 yr Author Thanks Jim, I presume that there is nothing I can do without re-installing FSX and everything I have installed. Is there a reason why this , a presume a small file, has been corrupted and apparently not the rest of FSX as far as I know. Does these sort of issues in FSX affect other users. I will have to pretend that a volcano erupted and they built houses in the crater. It is a pity because I have always found RIO to be a beautiful city. Once again thanks for very very much for your advice, greatly appreciated. EDIT Forgot to mention that I also have FS Global 2008 installed, could this be the issue as it is contains MESH scenery.
September 4, 201312 yr Forgot to mention that I also have FS Global 2008 installed, could this be the issue as it is contains MESH scenery. The only way to know for sure is to go to the Scenery Library and disable it. I do not own that product. If you like the Rio area, you might consider getting the Rio Scenery I mentioned in post 7. You can do a repair by inserting your first FSX disk and selecting the repair option but don't forget to do it if you own SP2 or Acceleration too. Just be aware that it will make a new fsx.cfg, a new dll.xml, and a new scenery.cfg so you should backup those folders first so that you can bring them back after the repair if you want to. The fsx.cfg should always be replaced with a new install/repair. If you have anything in your Addon Scenery folder, try deactivating that in the Scenery Library. Perhaps there is a file there that causes the problem (that is if disabling FS Global 2008 does not work). Tried to send this a several hours ago but AVSIM shut down so back here to resend. September 4, 201312 yr Author Thanks once again. Posted same message on Flight1 SimAviation Forum as FSGlobal 2008 is one of their products. Already got Blue Print & Tropical Sim so I am not thinking of buying another version of Rio if I end with the same issue.

September 16, 201312 yr Author Thanks to Christiaan on AEROSOFT forum the issue has been resolved. In FSX GLOBAL 2008 original version was there a set-up issue. In FSX Scenery/World/0405/scenery/dem0405.bg_ instead of bgl. The mountain is now back.
