Word of caution for those getting the PMDG 777

Featured Replies

So I just got the PMDG 777 installed and I have DX10 enabled with the shader fixes and all that good stuff from Steve. But as I go to load it up in the menu, something horrifying happens... missing textures on the aircraft. Most notably both of the wings are completely textureless. I switch over to DX9 and everything's fine except for the awful performance and inferior visuals.

Can anyone else confirm that there are missing textures on the 777 in DX10?  Hope we can get it solved with the fixer app when it is released.

Hi Trey,

cannot confirm your experience. Everything fine here with T7 and Dx10.

Cheers, Carsten

Hey, Trey - go into your Shaders cache folder and delete the "Shaders10" folder, FSX will re-create this on the next startup.

It's located in your "C:\Users\[your username here}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\" folder.

This may or may not be the cause - but it can cause this symptom if there's been a change made in the ShadersHLSL folder without rebuilding the cache. OK?

What are your in game and cfg settings and which Dx10 fixes do you have installed?

Okay I'll try that. Thanks Paul :)

I think you just need to re-run the Ezdok config to fix this.

Great point, Mark. Yeah - totally agree - EZCA can certainly give the same symptom/view if the vc view is moved outside of the aircraft you will not see any wings or tail.

The only modelled parts will be those parts that are visible from inside the cockpit. If you normally can't see the wings from inside the VC 'pit - then they are not included in the VC piece of programming. EZCA has a nasty habit of forgetting what it's supposed to be showing!

I don't have EZCA but I just got off work so Im about to rebuild the shaders and see if it worked.

EDIT:

It's fixed! Thank you guys! A strange anomaly but we're back in business now.

This thing is even more beautiful in DX10 and so smooth.
