FS 9.1 - Low Framerates in 2d cockpit

Featured Replies

Hi,I just updated my flightsim and I was very pleased by the result. The updated only created one small problem: Framerates in 2d cockpit view will not go over 10 fps!My system configuration:ACER Aspire 1356LCi (Laptop)AMD 2600+512MB RAMATI Radeon 9700 64MB VRAMIt's an interesting change in performance, as I got best framerates in 2d view before the update. Now I can pull almost all the sliders to the right and get 25fps (locked) in every other view except 2d...Maybe someone can help me with this problem?Cheers,Robert

Did you possibly have the PanelAsTexture parameter set in the display.device section of your fs9.cfg file? Some users have reported significant changes in 2d panel performance with it on or off (1 or 0). On my system, I notice no difference.. but you might look into this as a possibility... Search for this parameter in this forum...

The FS9.1 Update replaced the display.cfg in the Flight Simulator 9 folder. Rename this display.cfg file to display.NEW. Open the Flight Simulator 9BACKUP folder and copy display.xxx.cfg and paste the copy in the Flight Simulator 9 folder. Rename display.xxx.cfg to display.cfg. Restart the flight simulator and see if the problem is corrected. If so, continue using the old display.cfg file or compare the differences between the old and new file for your graphics adapter. If the problem still exists, delete display.cfg and rename display.NEW to display.cfg.W. Sieffert

Thank you, I'll did not have the PanelAsTexture thingy installed. Therefore I'll try the second tip...

OK.. let us know how it goes!It may yet be that the two suggestions are one and the same...The display.cfg file is the directory that causes the panelastextureparameter to be set... If you open up your FS9.cfg file and look at thedisplay.device section, you'll see what it "decided on your behalf"..

Exchanging the new FS9.1 display.cfg with the old FS9 file worked well for me.Got my 25 fps back!!!
