The Mighty Titan

Featured Replies

Hi All,

There's a lot of talk around regarding new Graphic Cards and their bang for bucks. But if I did decide to splash all out and go for a Titan which one do I choose or does it not really matter.

I looked recently for a Titan in my local area and was surprised to see a number of different options. The guy behind the counter was less than helpful and asked which brand do you want...?

At the end of the day are all these cards all the same on the inside with simply a different label on the outside?

My choices are:

1. eVGA GTX Titan 837M/6008M 6GB GDDR5 2xDVI/HDM

2. Asus GTX TITAN PCI-E 3.0 6GB 384-bit DDR5, Base:837MHz, Boost:876MHz

3. Gigabyte GTX TITAN OC EDITION PCI-E 3.0 6GB 384-bit DDR5, Base:837 boost:876/6008 MHz

4. MSi GTX TITAN NTITAN-6GD5 PCI-E 3.0 6GB

5. Zotac GTX TITAN ZT-70101-10P PCI-E 3.0 6GB

All are within a few dollars of each other so price is not a factor. My MB is Asus so for me the ASUS option would draw me their way. However the Gigabyte OC edition takes my interest but comparing the SPECIFICATIONS I don't see any difference between that and the others, for example:

EVGA stands behind Their product for the life of the product - and is the most rock solid cards I have owned some get tired over time I have not noticed this with my last two EVGA cards, but hey all of them are awesome cards, keep in mind gigabyte is new to the video card game and not sure on returns over the long haul do your homework for sure.

Thanks for your input Richard

Btw: I've read a lot of your post everywhere and thankyou for your help overall.

FYI: I'm currently running 3 30in screens in NV surround at 6044 X 1080 with 2 X 680's.

I'm lead to believe SLI is not helpful in FSX although I'm getting good performance from my 680's with that high resolution.

However I think I've reached the limits of the cards particularly around big airports like FSDT KLAX/KJFK and the NGX at that high res. Hoping a single titan might help a little.

Your welcome Ice no problem good luck with you purchase, sorry I have heard so many stories about sli just never tried it to expensive as I always buy the very best card I can at the time and two of them would kill me lol, you can't go wrong with an evga, my 680 and titan have been rock solid just dont overclock it no real gain as far as I can tell and I think it beats your card up for no good reason buddy.    :good:

Uhh not quite, Gigabyte has been around for quite a while as far as Graphics Cards go, so I wouldn't call them new.

All of the cards you listed are identical except for brand so you can't really go wrong.

In my opinion though, if you have an option to go for an EVGA card, I would go for this option based on customer service/warranty experience alone.
