PMDG 777

If you are referring to the wind data downlink feature then we intend to implement this in an automated way that doesn't require the manual copy+paste. We are waiting to receive the developers spec detailed in the 777 manual.

We should all buy them a "kiss the geek" shirt to wear when Stephen and Cheryl code OPUS.

We have now implemeted an automatic wind and temps data downlink feature in today's beta. We haven't got the 777 to test with so would like some feedback as to how well this works.

The PMDG 777 upper wind and temperature text file will now be created and automatically copied to the <SIM>\PMDG\WX folder. This file is only generated during a weather update under the following conditions,
a. When a Flight Plan has been specified and processed (or activated in the sim).
b. When a PMDG aircraft is loaded and sitting on the ground.
c. When the <SIM>\PMDG\WX folder exists.

N.B. The PMDG 777 report is generated in OpusFSX\Themes\OpusPMDGData.txt prior to copying to the SRCEDEST.wx file in the <SIM>\PMDG\WX folder, where SRCE and DEST are the ICAO codes for the point of departure and destination respectively.

To obtain meaningful data GRIB forecast data must be available.

Thanks
Cheryl

Hi ,

I can't get it to work with opus .

i first export a plan with pfpx to the pmdg flightplan and the fsx folder wich create a file vrmmomdb01 in the fsx and pmdg folder i imported the flightplan in opus , grib data forecast is on and proces the flightplan .

This gives me a pmdg file in the themes folder and a file vrmmpmdb  (without the 01 at the end ) in the pmdg  wx folder .

When i go to the legs page of the fmc , select route date and request for weather nothing happens .

Best regards

Gérard

Try adding the 01 to the end of the wx file name. Im sure the info I was given says the file name should be built from just the two ICAO codes with a .wx on the end. This is all explained in our Announcements so if there is some other addition then I will have to make a change. For now just add the 01 to the end and try that. I do not have the 777 so I am relying on beta testers to investigate.

hi Stephen ,

i allready did that , but first i get a message that it can not be renamed because the file is in use so i have to stop opus , rename the file in vrmmomdb01.wx and start opus again but it makes no difference  , even selecting the tekst in the themes file  , copying them on another notepad file and name it vrmmomdb01.wx doesn't help either .

OK, I think it is something to do with the delimiters in the file, we will make an amendment and post a new beta soon.

We have downloaded the new beta at 13:00 Zulu. Hopefully this will work with the new delimiters.

Can you try it and let us know if it is imported by PMDG OK.

Thanks for your help.
