Wind Data Request: works, but locks the wx file

Featured Replies

Hey,

guess this could be one for the "issue tracking thread".

I'm using Active Sky 2012 and now while in my transat flight EGLL - CYUL I tried the weather request feature, by creating a EGLLCYUL.wx file inside the PMDG/WX folder, and copied the AS2012 wind data in it as per the description in the readme.

Was able to import the data using the "wind data request" feature, works like a charm !

One issue: it seems that once you hit the "request" button, the file is obviously read, but is being kept locked to the process. Meaning we can't delete the file from Windows Explorer, nor update it with refreshed wind information a couple of hours later. You get the message "file is used by another process" when trying to update it (I use notepad++).

So please PMDG, could you update your code so that once the file is read, its lock is released so other processes can alter it again ?

Thank you.

Mathieu

bump, making sure that PMDG is picking this up.

Or is it better to raise a support ticket ?

Good point.  I'll point it out to them.  Caused issues for me, too.

I noticed this too when I tried this on a flight from Dubai to Hong Kong. Was not such an issue on that flight but when I noticed my ETFOB flying from Hong Kong to San Francisco starting to drop I found the need to update my wind data all the more necessary somewhere over the Bering Sea.

Incidentally that was the longest flight I ever did in FS. 13 hours and 20 mins. That time acceleration feature is truly a great add.
