Can't install Vox ATC - Indexer problems

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I wanted to install the trial version.

I have then the problem, that the Indexer stops at several BGLs: OBX55150, OBX55140 etc

Cancel doesn't work, I just could click to close the window.

I have taken now these affecting BGLs out of the FSX folders, indexer runs till to the next stop which seems to be always the next lower OBX...BGL

Now I can't go further at it seems I have to take out all OBX... files ....

Haven't tried Vox ATC in FSX now, can't say if it works now as it should.

I have found here a post with a similar problem, he reinstalled his OS at least what is no option on my side just to try out a software (especially if everything else is working)

I run under Win8, all admin rights, all files within FSX are under my control, meaning I'm the owner (hope you understand)

Many thanks for your help!

Guenter

OBX file most likely are from orbx scenery, maybe this files are too big and the indexer need long time to scan, if you don't mind you can try to uninstall those scenery from orbx and try again the indexer or you can wait enought time untill it finish the job.

Thanks for your answer ... have benn waiting a long time, but nothing happens.

Are you sure that this is ORBX? I just have FTX Global installed... haven't a clue what they inserted there.

But will try to copy out these OBX files and copy them in after indexing.

thanks

found an explanation about the OBX etc

The file structure in FSX is based on a grid of the world. The Folder number will be that numbered folder inside the Scenery Folder of FSX. File names are also based on numbers so if you have Folder 302 and File 26210 then the airport/objects or whatever will be in files in Scenery\0302\Scenery. Data in files is divided depending on what the file cotains. Files starting with APX contain airports; OBX contain objects; NVX navaids and so on. So if you are over an airport (12FA in my example) then the airport data is stored in APX26210.bgl and any objects in OBX26210.bgl.

Now, I have copied out all OBX, then it was stuck at NVX ... copied out NVX then it was stuck at DEM ...

now I give up.

Glad there was a demo ... saved me a lot of bugs so far   :(

You can contact the VoxATC dev via the contact form on his website - got an answer from him within some 24 hours.

BTW, I don't own FTXG, but lots of their regions and airports - got the indexer running with no problems.

Finally I got it!

Tegwyn, the VOX ATC developer helped me via mail contact - slow, but steady ^_^

In my FSX.cfg, there was the line

SimObjectPaths.7=

(yes, after "7=" there was nothing)

I use FSX GO and with that I'm able to start FSX with different cfg's
There are also cfg for AI Traffic and one for the IVAO MTX library, because avoid loading the MTX library makes FSX startup much faster.
This was achieved by just let the simobjects line empty.

But I think it was a year ago as I was online the last time, so I could easily remove that line.

So, now I will try to start with VOX ATC and have a look how it works ...

Many thanks for the patient and successive support!
