Does TOPCAT support MD11 PW engines yet?

Featured Replies

The TOPCAT website says it only supports the GE engine variants of the MD11 but I'm hoping the website is just out of date.  Does anyone here with Topcat see support for MD11F PW engines?

Thanks

Nope.  Only GE CF6's.  It works perfectly fine for both variants, though.

So for example, can I select the GE variant and the FLEX table would still be accurate enough to use on the PW variant?

I'm sure someone already asked them about T7 plans.  Any responses from the TOPCAT team so far?

Yes.  The difference in engine thrust is hardly noticeable.  I've used TOPCAT on both variants.

They said they are working on getting the critical PFPX issues addressed at the moment and when that is done they will be revisiting aircraft profiles for TOPCAT.  I'd venture a guess that it certainly includes the 777, as their forums are swamped with 777 requests.

As far as I can tell, the exact same .air file is used by both varients. The only difference is in engine displays, fuel flows (PMDG use a custom fuel flow model), and apparent thrust. I found they both acccelerate the same to 160 kts, at least for the 60k rating.

The PW has bump thrust to 62k. This might be the biggest difference (in terms of thrust) between the two.

Best regards,

Robin.
