Fatal Error Occured

Recommended Posts

Hallo everybody i have fsx with addons PMDG NGX 737-800/900,My Traffic 2013,REX ESSENTIAL+,Ezdok camera. My problem is that sometimes, actually most of the times that i tried to exit fsx this is not happen as it has to be and a box with "fatal error occured" appears and after that the FSX is restarting. Until now the problem seems to disappear when running fsx not in full screen mode when i want to exit fsx or use anything from the menu bar! But today the problem into fsx when none of these (exit or use menu bar) were used, it appeared all of a sudden and after that i had to exit FSX. The report from appcrashview is:

Your ATI video card is not installed properly.  Perhaps you have it overclocked?  It might be overheating too.  Perhaps the drivers are corrupted.  You can click on the Run command in the Start Menu and in the box type dxdiag.  See if any problems are reported.

Microsoft must have recently updated Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 as your versions are above what is considered the latest - 6195 (MSVCR80.dll).

Best regards,

Jim

I have installed the latest gpu drivers via Drivermax. I dont even know how to overclock it so it mustnt be that. The heat sensor is lower than 65 C. I run dxdiag and no problems reported!

Unfortunately drivers do not always get installed properly.  You have two options:

Uninstall/Reinstall the video card drivers.  Run a Registry cleaner like CCleaner before reinstalling.  Make sure you right click the video card driver installation program and select Run as Administrator.

OR

Roll back the drivers to an older version that was working properly.

Best regards,

Jim

I have done everything you insist me but the problem is still exist! It is very weird because this problem that happens due to GPU drivers appears only with FSX. All other functions and games are running perfectly!

I have been having a similar problem (not identical), always in full screen mode BUT it only happens with certain aircraft (in my case the CaptainSim C-130). I have eliminated add-ons, etc, uninstalled and reinstalled while flying the same aircraft and route dozens of times. In another post, one of our AVSIM members CoolIP, suggested that it might be the OpenAL.dll (Open Audio Language), which I have since uninstalled, but did not run a registry cleaner. I will try that next and see if I can eliminate my problem (which may not be related to yours).

Go into your Scenery Library and disable all addons.  Run FSX.  If the problem goes away, then it is probably one of the sceneries you have installed.  Reenable 2-3 at a time and run FSX until the problem starts up again.  If you do not have any Addon Sceneries, then look at any addon aircraft you just installed.  Start uninstalling each one with the latest aircraft installed, uninstalled first.

Bad tweaks, especially the BufferPool tweak causes all kinds of problems with many systems.  If you have it employed in your fsx.cfg, get rid of it or at least comment it out so it does not load.  For instance:

//[bufferPools]  (note the two slash marks in front of Bufferpools.  That's commenting out the line item so it will not load when you restart FSX)

//BP=0

You can also try renaming your Fsx.cfg to FSX.orig (in case you want to bring it back if rebuilding does not work).  Restart FSX and your fsx.cfg will be rebuilt.

You can also do a Google search for Faulting Module atiumdag.dll.  Your crash report shows this dll, which belongs to ATI, was the fault for your crash.  If another faulting module shows up in a subsequent crash, please let us know.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jim

How did you activate Direct X?  Do you mean DX10 Preview?

Hi guys I am having the same problems with My ATI 7970 on Windows 8. My problems started when I upgraded to Catalyst 13.10 Beta. I could no longer run FSX in Directx9 only DirectX10.

I went back to Catalyst 13.6Beta2 and it works fine but for a moment when it worked on 13.10 the graphics were awesome. AA was working properly in Directx9

Here is the error that I got

Those are clearly memory starvation spikes, a well known issue with FSX.  Your settings are set so high fsx cannot render the scenery textures properly.  You are close to getting an out of memory (OOM) crash.  It is not a DX10 Preview problem.  You can use the exact same settings you use for DX9 (when DX10 Preview is uncheck).  I have a feeling you have a tweak in your Fsx.cfg that is draining your system and virtual memory.  You can send me a copy of your fsx.cfg by making a copy of your Fsx.cfg and rename it to something like KostasFSX.txt (you cannot upload a file with a .cfg extension here.  Just click on More Reply Options in your post and then upload it here and I will take a look.

Best regards,

Jim

Okay.  Make some major changes to the fsx.cfg.  Each change is highlighted in RED.  See attached.

Best regards,

Jim
