September 17, 201312 yr I would replace it unless you plan to buy the same RAM you already have. Lj. Prodanovic
September 17, 201312 yr Author ok.. that is kind of what I thought the answer would be.. I think I'd rather have a new vid card then more mem right now though.. but thanks.. will keep it in mind down the road. Ciao!
September 17, 201312 yr Given you're using a triple channel kit currently, I take it you're running a 1st Gen i7 on an X58 Motherboard? Since the memory on those boards runs in triple channel, if you can't find a kit the same as what you currently have to add to the system, then I would suggest replacing it and not adding that ram there. It's best practice not to "mix and match" RAM as it can cause issues. Have a browse through this list: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006519%2040000147%20600052011%20600006078%20600006127&IsNodeId=1&name=DDR3%201600%20%28PC3%2012800%29 Try to get one with the lowest CAS Latency and tightest timing possible. If you're planning on upgrading your whole PC anytime soon though, I'd hold off buying RAM right now since triple channel kits are only relevant for X58 boards. -Anthony Young- "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." - Leonardo da Vinci
