OK, Just to clear things up right away, I am not implying that this I caused by PMDG products, only that it is confined to the NGX & T7 (I don't have my MD11 & 747X installed yet).

 

I have just finished a complete o/s, FSX and addons reinstall, due to a sudden problem that showed up in my MOBO, so I decided to upgrade to an IB system (decided against HW). I spent a lot of time on my O/S, FSX & Addon installation, following all the recognized guides in this forum and spent a week on obtaining what I think is a really good stable O.C. to 4.3G on my new 3570k. I also have the minimum FSX .cfg tweaks outside of the PMDG recommended & my BP=0 that has always served me well.

 

The result is a FSX that is running at a very slightly better performance than my 2600k @4.4 set up and as smooth as one can expect from FSX (I just don't think a FSX without the occasional little sputter exists).

 

Now to my little problem (At least I hope it is little). After all of my installs and the usual restarts and tests, it was PMDG's turn, which went without a hitch, until I went to exit FSX. If I just go to the menu and end flight, FSX just goes to the preview dialog and I click close and FSX closes normally and everything is normal.

 

If I go to that same menu bar and select exit, FSX will go to a black screen and the sound continues for about 5-10 seconds and then the "do you want to quit" dialog appears and I'm good from there.

I have tried opening a flight in windowed mode and clicking the close button, but the same happens.

 

I have tried this from a high stress airport, such as FSDT CYVR, to the default Friday Harbor but same thing. This happens with my PMDG a/c "only" and I have been tearing my hair out, trying to think what I have done.

 

Any ideas, anybody? I was thinking of a ticket, but I thought somebody might know before I go bugging Ryan with a ticket.

Yes, I believe it is a known issue. I don't think the core cause was ever isolated - my belief is it probably has to do with the complexity of the aircraft. 

 

In any case all reports suggest this is just a "cosmetic" anomaly.

Yet I have been flying PMDGs for a long time on several builds and never had this manifest itself until now. I have "exactly" the same software installed as 6 days ago ???

 

The only place I can think of is the .cfg, but I tried to use my old one that I used until I powered down 6 days ago with the same results.

 

Edit: it showed up on installation of the T7 (#1 in the PMDG install order)

Well I can't see it being a major problem because my sim is running beautifully, my rig is running with a IB @4.3 and max temps =54deg at CYVR and i'm getting 29-30 fps locked at 30 (obviously sitting looking at the term, I get the usual dips down to the low 20s, but that's the price you pay for high end scenry.

 

Just about time to turn off the fps counter and just fly!

 

Still love to get rid of that pause.
