October 17, 201312 yr I've tried the one an AM calculator suggests (http://www.gatwick-fsg.org.uk/affinitymask.aspx?SubMenuItem=hardware) which turned out the be 1364 and it wasn't a good thing at all--massive blurries and if I recall correctly only 2 core/threads showed activity in performance monitor. Anyone have an empirically-based, not theoretical only, recommendation of the optimal AM for hexacore w/ HT enabled? October 17, 201312 yr I've already answered in another thread but I'll giv an answer here as well. I successfully use 4089 on my hexacore. It's awsome with high-res photo scenery at high LOD setting. It gives you the best groundtexture loading you will get in FSX at the moment. 4081 and 4084 are two other affinitymasks I'd consider. Especially if I was to have things like a wether engine like active sky running at the same time. They are both making use of hyperthreading whilst still leaving a full physical core free for other things to run on. They are kind of the hyperthreaded hexacore equivalent of 14 on a non hyperthreaded quad core. 1364 should give high activity on 5 cores though, not only on 2... FSX default is 1365.
October 18, 201312 yr Author I successfully use 4089 on my hexacore. It's awsome with high-res photo scenery Wow, 4089 was terrible! AM of 62 w/o HT enabled is vastly better--high activity on all 6 cores waxing and waning w/ demand. I wonder why such a difference? I have yet to find an AM that gets more than 6 cores going. I'll try the other two you suggested. July 9, 201411 yr I use 1364 without any problems at all and it uses the top 5 cores of my i7 4930k. Gatwick Flight Simulation Group http://www.gfsg.co.uk - Affinity Mask Calculator http://www.gfsg.co.uk/affinitymask.aspx?SubMenuItem=hardware
July 9, 201411 yr Hello, I see from your specs, you have a modest o/c @4.4? H/T is useless in FSX. I myself have pretty much the same hardware as you do. The only difference is the processor. I'm running an I7 4770k @4.4 o/c. I have H/P disabled, no affinity mask tweak or buffer pools. I run ASN w/rex textures. I fly airliners for a virtual airline. With 3000+ hrs over the last year, I average 29 fps per flight . I do believe the less tweaks you have , FSX runs better. Just trying to help. Have a great day, C.
