  1. Hi, Excellent report - Forgetting FPS, could you say which one actually ran the smoothest? i.e. least amount of stuttering / tearing if any! Regards, Ted.
  2. Hi GB, I have updated the affinity mask calculator to provide an expert mode, so that you can customise the affinity mask to use any logical cores and threads that you desire. http://www.gatwick-fsg.org.uk/affinitymask.aspx?SubMenuItem=hardware Regards, Ted.
  3. I use 1364 without any problems at all and it uses the top 5 cores of my i7 4930k.
  4. Paul, What a wonderful simple, cost effective solution. Thanks for sharing B) Regards, Ted.
  5. Hi Bill, Could you please tell if you use any form of Bezel Management with your Eyefinity setup, as I use nVidia Surround with Bezel Management enabled but if you look at my picture you will notice the knobs towards the far right get elongated. They only look correct if I turn Bezel Management off. Regards, Ted.
  6. Sorry Howard, I guess I had a sense of humor failure :Just Kidding: Regards, Ted.
  7. Hi Howard, Are you very sure that is not a typo, as according to the Dell web site you have one zero too many? See below. Regards, Ted. 8. Hi Manny,No, I get a very fluid experience in FSX. I know that it all depends on how you have FSX configured but on a scale of 1 to 10 my settings are at about 8. Using a detailed glass cockpit, TIR, real-time weather, GEX, REX and UK2000/ORBX airports I am getting from 24 FPS to 35 FPS on the ground and I have seen in excess of 100 FPS in the air from outside the cockpit.I have also tried Flight with FRAPS running and I was getting 58-60 FPS consistently with all the sliders on max. X-Plane 10 hits the GPU's harder and I have not yet got the configuration right. At the end of the day, as long as you see the scenery moving smoothly and the 'game play' is fluid, that it what counts IMHO.So for me, SLI does not degrade the performance. Maybe it is because I have a very fast CPU and memory to compliment the GPU's?One other thing, both my GPU's are running a full 16x PCI-E slot speed. The Sandybridge (not E type) motherboards only have 8x PCI-E slots for the GPU's when more than one GPU is used. So maybe that would cause a bottle neck with SLI in conjunction with FSX for others?Regards,Ted.
  9. Hi GB,I would recommend a pair of 3GB ZOTAC GeForce® GTX 580 AMP²! Edition - ZT-50104-10P in SLI surround mode.http://www.zotac.com...=100253〈=enI have two of the 1.5GB versions in SLI surround mode and they are very fast and run very cool, even under load.Regards,Ted.
  10. Hi Frank,Not possible using AMD Eyefinity http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-eyefinity-technology/how-to/Pages/faqs.aspx#diff-resand the same for nVidia SLI Surround http://widescreengamingforum.com/book/export/html/1504 - read down and you will find it described. In both scenarios, you end up only being able to run at the lowest resolution of the 3 monitors. i.e. 1600 x 1200.You can run the screens on a another dedicated graphics card to undock and display cockpit panels but the card cannot be connected to the SLI configuration.Regards,Ted.
  11. Hi Ryan,Just tried again and it still crashes. X-Plane 10 works fine but MS Flight also errors as you can see here.Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: Flight.exe Application Version: 1.0.0.30016 Application Timestamp: 4f28a36a Fault Module Name: nvd3dum.dll Fault Module Version: 8.17.12.9573 Fault Module Timestamp: 4f34782e Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0050e0d8 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 2057 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789It must be Windows then I guess. Way too much to rebuild, so I will stick with 285.62, as everything works with that.Thank you very much for trying to help me.Regards,Ted.
  12. Hi Ryan,Thank you for your assistance. I will try your recommendations when I get home from work.Regards,Ted.
  13. Hi,This driver does not work for me. Here is the extract of my post on the nVidia forums.Hi,I have just upgraded from driver version 285.62 to 295.73 and I get the following error when running FSX. 15. Hi Iain,Thanks for the update. At least Windows 7 is now recognising your hardware correctly. I think that Frank is on the right lines and it is just a CPFlgiht FSComm configuration issue.Let us know what Paolo comes back with, as I would be interested in the fix.Have a good 2012 :¬)Regards,Ted.
  16. Hi Iain,From what you have said it is a pure USB connection. Please could you go into "Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsSystem" and then select your Device Manager. Within Device Manager, locate the COM port that is failing and delete it. Also delete the CPFlight Serial adapter.Next shutdown you PC and move the MCP USB connection to another USB on the back of your PC. Restart your PC and then Check back in Device Manager and let me know the outcome. The COM port should be recreated automatically.Regards,Ted.
  17. Hi Iain,Frank asked me to try and help. I need to ask if you could confirm that your MCP is connected to your PC via a standard USB cable or via a serial to USB adapter? if you are not sure, just post me a picture.Regards,Ted.
  18. Hi Frank, Next time we get together, we can try some of this testing out Ted.
  19. Thank you for the tip BjornRegards,Ted.
  20. Hi,tf51d - I think that you will find that Austin was not suggesting that X-Plane 10 can only utilise 20 AI aircraft if you had 20 cores but made the comparison that if you had 20 cores you would experience the same performance that you would see from a single core running a single AI aircraft. In fact, whereas FSX is not a TRUE multi-threaded application, X-Plane 10 is and so should make use of multi-core processors very effectively.Crewcut - Unfortunately, when running resolutions of 5040 x 1050 using nVidia Surround Technology, I found X-Plane 9 did not scale the VC's correctly, the scenery was fine though - Hence my question re X-Plane 10's compatibility in this area.Regards,Ted.
  21. Hi,I have just read the AVSIM X-Plane 10 Preview. A couple questions that I would have liked answering are will it work on Surround Vision, Eyefinity or TH2Go setups with 3 screens correctly. Also, can it utilise an SLI GPU configuration to maximise graphics performance. I noted that it will utilise CPU's cores, so one would hope that the same would be true of GPU's!Does anyone know? Thanks,Ted.
  22. Hi Frank,I know that I could have emailed you with this but thought it better to share it.The problem that everyone is seeing and why you in particular are now only seeing it with nVidia Surround Technology is that the problem only occurs with resolutions greater than 3840 x 1024.Hence, your TH2Go resolution was exactly that. The nVidia Surround Technology resolution on your system now is running at 4800 x 1280. Hope this makes sense.Regards,Ted.
  23. Hi Jim,Thank you for your update. I am sorry but I am not sure on how to change the sync polarities but perhaps you could find another 2209WA (eBay?) rather than purchase 3 new monitors. With regards to 2H2Go, I did get it working but I no longer use it. At high resolutions, it would cause latency on my USB controller when I was taxing around airports in FSX. With the nVidia Surround system, I no longer get that issue and the bezel management that nVidia uses is far superior, so I guess that is another paper-weight for the collection :¬)Regards,Ted.
  24. Hi Jim,I am Franks friend and hopefully I might be able to help.I have my system running using a single nVidia GTX295 card (2 x DVI + 1 x HDMI) and 3 x Dell E228WFP 22" Wide Screen monitors at a resolution of 5040 x 1050 and a refresh rate of 60Hz.The problem you describe use to happen to me with the Matrox TH2Go. It was down to the refresh rate (for interest see here http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=17827). Can you check that all of your monitors are running at the same refresh rate. Also, when the screen goes black how long do you wait before rebooting? Sometimes, pressing the Esc key reverts back to the original resolution. Could you also check that the CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK keys turn the keyboard LED on and off. If they do, then at least your system is not hanging the hardware.Sorry to be asking a lot of questions but I am assuming that SLI has been recongnised by the nVidia software and that you have them ordered correctly, so that you can move you mouse from left to right accross all three screens.Regards,Ted.
