CP FLIGHT MCP PRO connection issues ?

Featured Replies

Hello; I'm using the CP Flight MCP pro version with EFIS. I cannot seem to connect the unit for correct operation. Software installed as are drivers, connected correctly. WIN 7 64 bit does not seem to recognise the hardware. Perhasp someone else has had the same issue? Thanks, Iain

Hi IainI have the EL versions. They work perfectly with Win7 64. I believe the PRO version is not USB connected. How are you trying to connect? If you are using a converter, that could be your problem.

Hi Frank,Thanks for the note. The PRO version is USB. You connect the USB cable, power cord after installing software and drivers. I'm lost on this one. It seems that W7 is not picking up the software. The hardware is working (you can check it by pressing N1 or removing and reinstalling power), so the problem is either software related or how the software connects, Iain

HI - first I am using CP Flight, NOT Go Flight. All USBs are OK. I am NOT using a hub but USB directly on PC, Iain

Have you tried Paulo at CPFlight? He is a very helpful guy. The forum sometimes fails to get his attention, so email him direct. His service is excellent.

Hi Frank - Yes I am in contact with him now, but he also is dumbfounded to what actually is happening. This is why I am going forum-wide in an attempt to solve the issue, Iain

If Paulo is stumped, then I certainly don't know. Two simple questions:Where is your CPFlight folder?Does the tester show that your PC is aware of the hardware?

HI Frank - thanks for your help.CP Folder is in in X86 folder (default location). I'm using WIN 7 64 bit.MCP does not show up in the test software. The com port cannot be assigned. MCP is OK though as it shows lights when removing power plug and pressing N1 for several seconds. It appears, that the issue is something to do with the com port - which is driver related.Iain

Com port was going to be my next question. Why can it not be assigned? I have scrolled through, in the past, to find the right one. Have you tried another socket for the USB?It will not show in the tester if the wrong com port is selected.

HI Frank: I think this maybe the issue (COM port allocation and pick up).Assuming you are also using WIN 7 64 bit, how did you update the driver?? I am let to believe that W7 should find the drive automatically - but... I wonder.I decided to update the driver manually. When I selected COM1 for update it did noting, so I went to USB serial port and updated there. Now, a CP Flight Serial Adapter is seen in the Universal Serial Bus Controller section. Here is an uploaded image of my device manager http://img859.imageshack.us/img859/7994/devicemanagerphoto.jpgI don't think this is quite right? Cheers, Iain

The FSCom opening tablet only looks for a com port so what you have done would seem wrong. I have pointed a knowledgable friend at this thread. I or he will write again.I suppose you did download the correct driver. It's the bottom one in the 3rd block I recall.

Hi Frank - thanks for your help - I do appreciate this.http://www.cpflight.com/sito/downloads/downloads.aspThe driver I have downloaded is the MCP737 Pro USB Driver. The MCP I am using is the MCP Pro version (with the usb connection) - NOT the EL versionGosh, I'm almost "hoping" it's the wrong driver - as that would be a simple remedy. So that is not the answer. You do have the correct driver. Puzzling. It's 05.00 here so my mate (a lot younger than me!) is still in bed. He's a pro computer guy, who builds my machines and shares our FS interest. I hope he'll have a clue.I feel sure this is where your problem lies.

Yes Frank I agree with you - the issue must be with the driver or the ability of W7 64 bit to read the driver. I'm looking forward to getting new MCP up and running as it's integral to the sim. No doubt Paolo will chime in a few hours also. Cheers, Iain (enjoy B/fast and coffee)
